My boyfriend & I stopped here very briefly for an overnighter while in Ghent for a music festival. We checked in late after a short stroll from the train station to find our key & a note sitting at the reception desk, however before we got to our room we were met by a member of staff. Our room was... more

The Astoria, despite its grand name, is a small family hotel near the Ghent historical city centre. The outside is stylish, the quality of the rooms varies. I occupied a decent but somewhat worn single room, my mother and a friend got a "suite" that was not much more than a big empty space with old uncomfortable furniture. Breakfast was... more

April 2009, my wife and I and our two 21 year olds stayed for three nights in the superior rooms. Hotel is exceptionally well looked after by the propietor and his family. Garden facing rooms avoid the train noise from the very near railway line. Car park is huge. 5 minute walk to local transport network which itself is excellent.... more

I usually arrive in Gent by train, so the location of this hotel is a bonus - it's about five minutes walk from the back door of Sint Peeters Station. However, the proximity of the railway line is a noisy drawback to what would otherwise be a very nice little hotel, even for the rooms that don't directly face it.... more

i agree with other reviewers, this hotel is good most of the time but very questionable in others. The manager was asked about breakfast times and he was very non committal about exact times,we got three different answers. One otherr point, this hotel accepts persons going to the all night teckno music festival in november, you can guess the rest!! Basil Fawelty is... more

The Hotel Astoria is a lovely hotel. It is neat as a pin and absolutely spotless. Somewhere between quaint and elegant. We had a garden room on the second floor. Room 7. It is a tiny room. We had a bit of trouble finding a place for our suitcases. It was a very cheery room though and otherwise comfortable. The... more

As recommended we booked a Superior room with Garden View at an extra cost to ensure we did not have the noise of the rail track as so many previous guests had complained about it. Upon arrival we found we were allocated a room on the front facing the rail track (not in the hotel itself but next door in... more

According the Astoria's own website this is a 3 star hotel, reviews suggest, however, the rating is only 2 star. Whatever, there are some facilities that travellers should reasonably be able to expect with a hotel of either rating and the Astoria fails to deliver in several aspects. The noise from the trains were the least of my and my... more

Reviewers either love or hate this hotel. We loved it. But only because we had a garden-facing room. It was warm weather so we left the window open. No problem! Sure we could hear the trains but they were not intrusive ... ON THE GARDEN SIDE. So pay a few euros extra - it will be worth it. I would... more

My partner & I ended up at the Astoria because he neglected to pre-book an hotel and on arrival, our preferred choices were booked up. So we went to Astoria. The owner is nice - though it took ages to book us in as he was constantly on the phone (making calls as well as receiving). We got a room... more
