We were staying 3 nights in Ghent and planned on using it as a base for excursions to Brugge. The hotel was reasonably close to the train station which was a plus. To get to the city center one could take a longish walk directly; a short bike ride; a short walk to the #1 tram; or take the long...

a reasonable hotel, nice big rooms but the hotel itself is very outdated and a little stuck in the 70's.. staff reasonably friendly.. breakfast, not for me
I was there on a business trip with a colleague. We booked 2 rooms, but they have a reservation for only one. It was their mistake and did nothing to repair. Staff was un-profesional and unfriendly. The hotel is old, no fitness center and breakfast poor.
Dear Guest,
Please accept our apologies for all the inconveniences you have suffered during your stay with us.
Unfortunately we were dealing with an error in our reservation system and we were unexpected overbooked that night.
Of course this is an unfortunate error where the hotel is taking full responsibility for and explained to you personally.
I hope that we...

We were travelling to Ghent, Belgium for the weekend (one night) to meet with friends who live there. As we have been on a few trips recently, we were looking for something close to the station, city and within a reasonable price range. We were able to get a room with an easily adjustable air-conditioning/heating system and were even able...

stayed here for 5 nights. Ok for sleeping, but the windows should be replaced. Bathroom was nice and service was very good. Breakfast was pretty good. Overall a decent hotel. Would stay there again although the NH hotel in the center of the city is better.
That makes two bad experiences with NH hotels in a row for me. I'm done now! The breakfast was just barely so-so. There is no restaurant in the hotel, the closest is about a 15 minute walk. It's dark, and as in the other NH hotel I stayed in recently, they pretend they're ecologically concerned while actually just saving money...

I'd stayed at NH brand hotels before and had a decent experience. Not here. Dark, dingy hotel, corridors resembling more a prison than a hotel, rooms were box-sized and not very comfortable. Staff were not very welcoming. In the morning we asked the porter if breakfast was included in the room tariff - he told us it was. The breakfast...

I had a brief one night stay here while meeting up with some friends in Gent. The room was large, extremely well furnished and clean, and definitely a cut above most chain hotels I've stayed in. Although I couldn't take advantage, the hotel offered the chance of a (free) late checkout on Sunday.
Probably the only thing that isn't ideal...

I don't remember having such mixed feelings towards a hotel before.
CONTEXT: Business Trip extended for pleasure.
---- WHAT'S GOOD? ----
LOCATION: A nice and quiet 25 minute walk from Ghent attractions. 5 minutes from the train station, which allowed us anchor in Ghent, and visit Brugge and Brussels. One could also do day trips to Antwerp and the west...
