When this was a Sofitel it was a lovely hotel with a nice atmosphere and staff who couldn't do enough for you. Since being taken over by NH it's become expensive, corporate and all the litle touches that lifted this above the normal chain hotel have gone. Meals, room service and bar prices have all risen sharply. Sofitel privilege cardholders... more

To some it up: Location: Great, about as central as you could want. Parking: underground and very secure(15E per day though) Rooms: We were 4 people and 2 rooms, 1 much bigger than the other! Both still good though. Good ensuite, comfortable beds as usual, expensive minbar(dont touch it)tea/coffee making, TV etc etc - no complaints Breakfast: We opted for... more

Stayed for 3 nights, originally booked in a "superior" room. The decor was minimalist, and several items listed as amenities in superior rooms were not found in our room. The modern design of the room did not offer any comfortable seating, storage, counter space, or adequate reading light. We asked to be upgraded (at an additional cost) on our 2nd... more

Stayed at this hotel from 30.12.08 to 02.01.09. Had a lovely new year break. The Hotel is in a convenient location in the city centre. The rooms are large, very clean and have plenty of cupboard space. Very comfortable beds. Nice big plasma TV on the wall. There are no tea and coffee making facilities but we had been advised... more

Arrived during yet another festival - the centre was blocked off to traffic and trams, which will explain why our tram didn't go anywhere near where we wanted (Korenmarkt) and there was no notice at the tram stop at St Peters Station. The room was great, the bed was huge and it was very modern in decoration. We were very... more

Stayed at the hotel in July 2008 with a party of 15 celebrating a 60th birthday after travelling to Belgium on the Eurostar holding a birthday party on the train. It was the first time the staff had seen a picture of a Eurostar on the top of a birthday cake. The hotel is quite a long way from the... more

Booked a 2 night stay in a superior room. Our room was spacious with a comfy large bed and a nice bathroom with lots of toileties. Large flat screen tv with cable channels incl. BBC1 & 2. Had a great view from our window of the Belfort Tower. The breakfast was excellent with hot (bacon, sausages, scambled eggs, etc) as... more

Some might say it is a pity that just the old façade remains, having building a branch new hotel in every other sense. However, I found it a metaphor of the city itself, where medieval architecture gets along with modern times, managing the transition quite well. It is located in the town centre, opposite to Town hall and close to... more

Spent four nights here and loved it. We had booked an Executive room and it was amazing for the price. Separate dressing room, lovely bathroom and wonderfully comfy bed. Ghent is a beautiful place to visit with amazing restaurants as well. Try "Cassis", it is sensational! Only have good things to say about this hotel, would highly recommend especially if... more
