We stayed for a couple of nights on the Bon Vivant at the beginning of June, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Mathieu is a great laid back host, who keeps everything - literally - shipshape ! The accommodation was great - fun and quirky and handy for visiting the very interesting city of Ghent. Arrival and parking was easy and... More

We really loved our 2 night stay on Bon Vivant. From the moment we stepped on board we knew we had found a gem. I am amazed that they say they mainly cater for backpackers as it is way better than anywhere i could afford when i was backpacking and yet this is exceptionally good value for money. The cabins... Really enjoyed our stay at Bon Vivant! Extremely welcoming and knowledgable host, comfortable accommodation, great public areas with wi-fi, excellent breakfast and very good value for money. Just a 10-15 minute stroll into the heart of the old town. Loved the unusual maritime setting. Would definitely like to come back and explore the glorious city of Ghent further.

Spent a wonderful weekend in Ghent. A beautiful city, very similar to Brugge but not as touristic or as expensive. The accomodation was great. Very clean and welcoming. Mathieu is a great host and would definitely recommend the breakfast. Will definitely visit again but for a little longer next time. Paul and Tracy Green. Cleethorpes.

My husband, son, and myself really enjoyed our stay on Bon Vivant! Matthieu was very kind and helpful! Complimentary coffee and tea. Good directions and recommendations. Too bad it was cold for our stay as the terrace would be lovely. The room was comfortable, an extra bed was added for our 9 year old...just perfect! Quick walk to the old... More

The bedrooms are clean and comfy each with heaters and what looked like air con although it was too cold for that in Feb! The onsuite showers were a good pressure and also very clean. Towels, shower gel and dressing gowns were all included which are handy if you've travelled by plane with onky hand luggage! The living room was... More

Wow! Couldn't have picked a better place to stay in Ghent. It really wasnt much of a walk to the city centre (unless you get lost like us - but hey thats traveling and half the fun :P) It was really cool to stay on a boat and it was lovely accommodation - super comfortable bed, cosy, nice clean bathroom.... Just been back to Ghent and stayed on the Bon Vivant. The weather was much colder this time but the boat was lovely and warm. Mathieu was as welcoming as ever despite our late arrival due to weather and travel issues. we can't recommend this Boat highly enough as a friendly, warm and comfortable place to stay and we are... Bon Vivant was such a welcomed change to other places we have stayed in while traveling Europe! It was exciting to stay on a boat but you would never be able to tell once you stepped inside. It is warm and welcoming. We stayed in Novemeber and it rained everyday but the boat was warm and cozy. We booked the... More

The owner of the boat is super friendly and helpful. The boat is quite spacious and the rooms are very comfortable. There is free parking outside and it is only a 10 minute walk into the historic part of town. The old town is lit up at night time so it is well worth an overnight stay so you can... More
