Fantastic on a par with any boutique hotel I have stayed in. Lovely people lovely food and a fantastic location just 5 mins walk from the main attactions. My wife and I stayed last Saturday and had a meal at "The Twilight Zone" Bistro just up from the theatre. Make sure you go to both, as we had an amazing... More

Rooms full of character, unusual period building, attractive communal areas with original features, friendly and warm service, nice and generous breakfast in exquisite rooms, very helpful staff. Oh, and marshmallows. Lovely city too. Recommended.

Excellent bed and breakfast hotel, beautiful building and furnishings. Extremely good for the reasonable charges. Excellent helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. One piece of advice - while the hotel's website directions are fine you can also take either of two tram routes from St Pieter's Stn to the stop right by the hotel; the trams go via the... More

What a kind words! Thank you. Service, cleanliness, atmosphere and friendliness is what our main focus is for our small 12 bedroom hotel. Indeed you can take the tram number 4 at the end of the street to the city centre (three stops) or by food it is 10 to 15 minutes walking to the historical city centre. From the... More

This hotel's design left us without breath. Foyer: a dream, the rooms, perfect. Staff: very nice, helpful, never too much, but always there.Obviously speak English, and have map and enough information about the city. Highlights: Breakfast (I loved the diversity, you could gorge yourself, eat healthy, eat continental, whatever you wanted). Cutlery stylish like the hotel. Bed: I slept very... More

Indeed it was VERY rainy and VERY strong wind like everywhere in Northwest Europe that time. The wind was so strong that you could hear it making a sound around the building. My apologies that you did not have a good night sleep because of that sound. The windows we will have checked for the rain dripping through. Thank you... More

Have you ever been shouted at and thrown out of a hotel in the middle of the night? No? Well, be prepared when you go to the Hancelot. A few pieces of advice: Avoid the hotel if you have a pet (as the hotel has a no pet policy) or, for that matter, park your car with a pet outside... More

Thank you for these comments. This will give me the chance to respond to your story. I will keep it very short: 1. the receptionist clearly said that dogs are not allowed in the hotel. You said you wil keep the dog in your car during your stay. However when I came in the hotel at 22:00 hrs, your husband... More

Our visit to Ghent was for one night as we traveled from The Netherlands back to the UK. We wanted to stay in a town that offered enough activity for a day of sight seeing, but wasn't overwhelming, and a lovely hotel for our last night before returning to work after the Christmas holiday. Ghent and Charme Hotel Hancelot provided... More

We arrived in the afternoon for a Christmas weekend in Gent and were warmly welcomed by one of the staff members (Nadia) with a drink. After that we received a map of Gent and lots of tips. Our room was simple, but had a nice bed, the bathroom was large. Bath and shower, and two sinks. The building is old... More

This hotel is more like a bed and breakfast. It is small, lovely, the staff were gracious and the décor was beautiful. It is obviously an old building but they have used the old and added modern amenities like bathrooms to satisfy today's needs. The breakfast room, sitting areas, entrance ways were all beautiful with original floors and style. It... More
