My wife and I stayed at this hotel on the evening of Thursday 11 December. We found the hotel quite easily (a tram journey of a few minutes from the historic centre of Ghent). The hotel is set within a large renovated house. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and checking in was simple and straightforward. It is not... More

A very unpleasant experience, the manager didn't want to talk to me on the phone while I tried to explain tat my flight was cancelled due to fog. The've charged me the full costs and probably rented out the rooms to other people. very unreasonable and unprofessional management!

We weren't quite sure what to make of the Hancelot. On the one hand it is a charming old palace, tucked away down a quiet side street, with elegant reception rooms and high ceilings; on the other hand, it felt like travelling 30 years ago, with threadbare carpets on the stairs and a feint musty smell (decades of cigarette smoke... The Hancelot is a lovely former merchant's house on a very quiet street just off one of the larger boulevards south out of Gent. Unostentatious on the outside, the moment you open the large door into an exquisite open living room, with old piano , leather chairs and a massive old fireplace You'll feel at home from the second you... We spent 3 nights. We had a welcome glass of wine, very kindly. Old style and clean place. No elevator if you need one. Quiet and well located. About 20' walk from old town. They also have some parking places if need it. Room are big and offering nice space to manage with your luggage.

We stayed here for one night, picking it as a treat after staying somewhere more functional with a group of friends. The hotel is a lovely building beautifully furnished. On arrival we were told that our original room had a plumbing problem, and we were given a lower grade room on the second floor at a reduced rate. The room... More

we stayed in the hotel one night, unfortunately when it was 35 degrees, which is unusual for Belgium. This hotel is absolutely stunning, an old house, no doubt from a rich family. the interior is rich and special. don't expect a modern hotel, there are no elevators or airco. our room was at the top floor which is not the... The hotel building is probably a century or more old so the hotel has a historic feel to it. The location is just out of the city centre but within a 20 minute walk (or 5 minute tram). Initial impressions are deceptive, it looks a bit run down from the outside and is on an untidy side street (and parking... More

For a hotel a bit different, that is "easy" to get to from the motorway, yet 10mins walk from the centre, this is a hotel that does not have the modern/drab qualities of the main chains, but charm, quirkiness and great customer service. Arrived in the evening (as reception only staffed until 7pm), which needed some advance advice on getting... More

As I moved away from Belgium about 10 years ago, I do visit it on a regular base. On this occasion we had a voucher for a 1 night stay, which we extended with an extra night and an upgrade to a Charme De Luxe Room. The hotel is situated in a beautiful historical building in a nice quiet street.... More
