What a great time at Poas Volcano Lodge!!! Perfect room, great staff, and SO relaxing. From the time we checked in, to the time we left, we felt very well taken care of. Our check in staff was so attentive, and helpful with our requests. Special thanks to our severs at dinner, so attentive and helpful. And a special thank... More

This hotel is a very peaceful and quiet ecolodge with a bed and breakfast feel to it. The front desk isn't always staffed but we didn't have a hard time finding someone when we needed it. There are no tvs in the rooms but a game room (pool and boardgames) that kept us entertained. Dinner in the restaurant was very... More

My husband and I recently stayed one night at Poas Volcano Lodge at the end of our week-long stay in Costa Rica. It was a wonderful alternative to staying in busy San Jose. It's close to the volcano, but also a short drive from the airport. It was a very pretty estate - a lovely place to relax and wind... More

The staff barely spoke to us. While I was there, I actually wondered if PVL was some kind of silent retreat because the three staff members that we encountered during our stay basically only spoke to us out of necessity. There were no niceties at all. No conversation beyond the basics. It was actually kind of weird because there was... More

We are very sorry that your stay at Poas Volcano Lodge was not up to your expectations. Poas Volcano Lodge was a great way to begin our trip in Costa Rica. Our room was big and comfortable with a king bed and a sitting area inside and outside. The shower was amazing, like showering in a private garden outside -- it was inside, but the outside wall was all glass! A very nice touch in our room... More

Before writing this review, had to go back and read the negative reviews, some before earthquake some after. There is no doubt things are definitely different. Arrived here with my wife and daughter from some rather rustic lodgings in Monteverde, and both were thrilled to be here. The redesign inside the main lodge is very pleasing, and our room, room... We stayed 1 night at Poas Volcano Lodge as part of a 10-day birding tour lead by Tropical Feathers. The lodge is at the end of a small road through a cattle pasture. Rustic rooms and cabins, decorated with fresh flowers and hot bottles in our beds to take off the chill of the evening. Great food and friendly staff.... More

My husband and I spent two nights here to kick off our trip in Costa Rica. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The lodge is nestled in the hills near a dairy farm with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. The employees were friendly, and our room was spacious and clean. (We stayed in the garden view room.)... More

What a beautiful hotel! Super clean and the grounds are gorgeous. Make sure to read the book in the library area that tells the place's history, quite interesting. Also, take a walk on their trails. You won't see another soul and you really get a feel for the old farming style of the area. Be sure to put "Poas VOLCANO... More

We stayed for one night in a garden view room. The "garden" is a nice but small area that is the center of the driveway circle in between the bunkhouse and the main lodge. The view out the back is of a small hill about 20 meters away leading into a cow pasture. As mentioned in a previous review, these... More
