This is a beautiful and quiet place nestled behind a dairy farm with gorgeous views of the valley. From the time we arrived the staff was really nice and helpful. They showed us around the property and let us store our bags early. I loved the arched wooden door and the decor and landscaping. We stayed in the hummingbird room,... More

I have been to this area hundreds of times through the years, yet I had never thought about staying anywhere close to it. A couple weeks back this changed: we decided that it would be a good idea to stay at least one night closer to the Poás Volcano and enjoy some silence and relaxation. Choosing a spot was somewhat... We spent one night in the hotel.ROom is very clean, nice and cosy. Bed is extremely comfy and the duvets are amazing, they keep you really warm. Views from the rooms and dining room are breathtaking. They have hang outside the windows ,eaters for the hummingbirds so that,s what you see while having breakfast¡ this is very cute¡ we had... More

It's a bit hard to get there if you don't have a car. Rooms are very rustic and kozy, and you have everything you need there. Reception was somewhat helpful, but much ended up with them making money. At first they wanted 60 dollars taking us to poas volcano(20 minutts drive) and 60 dollars to la paz waterfall gardens (15... More

What a great time at Poas Volcano Lodge!!! Perfect room, great staff, and SO relaxing. From the time we checked in, to the time we left, we felt very well taken care of. Our check in staff was so attentive, and helpful with our requests. Special thanks to our severs at dinner, so attentive and helpful. And a special thank... More

This hotel is a very peaceful and quiet ecolodge with a bed and breakfast feel to it. The front desk isn't always staffed but we didn't have a hard time finding someone when we needed it. There are no tvs in the rooms but a game room (pool and boardgames) that kept us entertained. Dinner in the restaurant was very... More

My husband and I recently stayed one night at Poas Volcano Lodge at the end of our week-long stay in Costa Rica. It was a wonderful alternative to staying in busy San Jose. It's close to the volcano, but also a short drive from the airport. It was a very pretty estate - a lovely place to relax and wind... More

The staff barely spoke to us. While I was there, I actually wondered if PVL was some kind of silent retreat because the three staff members that we encountered during our stay basically only spoke to us out of necessity. There were no niceties at all. No conversation beyond the basics. It was actually kind of weird because there was... More

Poas Volcano Lodge was a great way to begin our trip in Costa Rica. Our room was big and comfortable with a king bed and a sitting area inside and outside. The shower was amazing, like showering in a private garden outside -- it was inside, but the outside wall was all glass! A very nice touch in our room... More

Before writing this review, had to go back and read the negative reviews, some before earthquake some after. There is no doubt things are definitely different. Arrived here with my wife and daughter from some rather rustic lodgings in Monteverde, and both were thrilled to be here. The redesign inside the main lodge is very pleasing, and our room, room...
