The Mercure Mons is, I think, primarily an events hotel catering for business groups. The reception, bar and restaurant are very good but the rooms are tired and could do with updating. The bathroom showers particularly are in need of upgrade. The setting is very nice in a wooded area and there is an outdoor pool. Its about five k... more

Nice hotel in the countryside near Mons. Very calm and isolated in the woods... Large-size room and bathroom, very helpful staff at reception and good service - and excellent food - at the small restaurant near the lobby. Managed by the Accor group. Too bad internet access in the rooms is not free. But overall: highly recommendable more

First off, I'm an American whose lived in Europe for a total of 12 years so don't have unreasonably high expectations. I checked-in, no problem, friendly staff, etc. Made my phone call home, etc. Then went to dinner at the hotel rest. I ordered a fillet of beef, baked potato & it came with a small salad. They gave me... more

I stayed here one night on a recent trip to Chievres and would have stayed the following week but they were full which lead me to the horrible Best Western Lido. The Mercure is out in the woods. Quite peaceful. We ate dinner from the fairly limited menu. It was good but a bit overpriced. Breakfast was good also with... more

We went there for a weekend, to relax. The hotel is located in a quiet area (woods). Not a good area for walking though. The city is also not within walking distance. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, the bathroom was not so nice. Hotel and rooms are clean, but not spotless. This is an old building that was... more

Stayed on way back from Austria. We had been rather spoilt by excellent stay en route to Austria at Mercure Sindelfingen an der Messe which had been superb value for money and excellent service. Mercure Mons in a better location, woodland setting but not as high a standard as Sindelfingen. Staff were very pleasant but I would agree that they seemed... more

Stayed here on Business in January 2007, Loved the hotel, but there were some issues with the service, and there never seemed to be enough staff. The decor and the rooms can't be faulted, the hotel has obviously been refurbished, to a very high standard. The location is fine if you are coming by car, it is in woodland approx... more

Convenient to SHAPE, but not to the town of Mons. Very nice rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast, very nice little pub/bar. No exercise facilities. Air conditioning in all rooms. Non-smoking rooms available. NATO rates availalble, as well, which fall within per diem. I would recommending staying here. more

This is a business hotel. It's OK, does the job, but is nothing special. I was booked here late summer 2006. As mentioned elsewhere the location is in woodland several KM from the small town of Mons: it's a good location for nearby golf courses and NATO, but you will need wheels (or be prepared to pay for taxis) to... more
