My wife, daughter and I stayed at the A-XL Flathotel in late August of 2007. This is what we thought of the place:

- We paid £40 per night for our flat through a popular hotel booking site on the Internet. However, some sites were offering the same accommodation for more that double that figure, so make sure you shop around before you make a reservation.

- The A-XL is situated on Rue de la Croix, a quiet street just off Ave Louise, one of Brussels' most up-market shopping streets. Confusingly, many maps of the city label the whole street Rue de la Croix, but this is not true. If you approach the hotel from Ave Louise, then you need to turn onto Rue du Beau Site, which then becomes Rue de la Croix.

- The location of the hotel cannot be faulted: across the street from a small late-night store; 2 minutes walk from tram stop Defacqz (tram 94); five minutes walk from the Delhaize supermarket on Rue de Hennin; five minutes walk from a local high street... more
