Had to stay the area where my clients stayed so I booked here.
Room just like average or less for what you pay what you get.
Door was broken I was not sure about the security. Pretty noisy out side.
Check in young staff was friendly but check out staff (an old indian looking man) next morning was really nasty...

I hated this hotel because it ruined my only week-end with my family who came from Europe. First of all, the hotel knew that we had two babies and they put us in 2 rooms where you have no elevator only stairs and we had to carry the strollers every time we go down. What a disaster. And they could...

Friendly staff, good location, but otherwise thoroughly disappointing.
I felt unsafe lying in bed under a mirrored tiled ceiling (!!!) that was coming unstuck.
Paper thin partitions between rooms.
Day to day cleaning ok, but needs thorough refurbishment.

My camera was stolen from my room, while I was having breakfast in the hotel lobby. Interestingly, I found out that three other clients (three rooms) faced the same problem. Apparently, someone realized that the hotel’s clients were having breakfast and took advantage of the situation

The hotel is in an excellent location (although we were told by the owner not to park our car there as it would more than likely get broken into and I wouldn't recommend that single females walk alone at night), the rooms are clean and have the basics for a short stay.

As far as Brussels hotels are concerned, the Chantecler falls in the cheap category, so it's an option if you are in a tight budget. The location in the lower town is indeed quite convenient, there are many shops, cafes and bars around, the Grand Place is a few blocks away, the Bourse metro station is two blocks away and...

The other reviews are spot on about "getting what you pay for". This was one of the most cost effective stays during our trip through Western Europe. But the return on our investment was directly proportional.
To begin with, if you are considering a stay in this hotel during the summer DON"T DO IT!!!!! There is no A/C! We sweated...

We stayed at the Hotel Chantecler for 3 nights. It was very centrally located to the top tourist sites, including the Grand Place. We walked everywhere from this hotel, only taking the subway to and from the train station.
The hotel staff was fabulous! They were very friendly and helpful. The room comes with breakfast, which consists mainly of bread,...

I stayed here for one night on my own and the location is fabulous. Very close to the Grand Place and walking distance to almost all the main sights. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were very clean BUT... the walls are paper thin, I could hear the person next door rustle the shopping bag and the people...
