We visited Chao Chow Palace hotel for one night on our way to Brussels’s national airport. It is situated behind Brussels-North station which has a direct train connection of about 12 min. to the airport. Leaving the station, turn left two times and you will see the hotel. Walking through a shopping street, you will reach the Grand Place, which... more

After reading some of the reviews on this site, I was worried about booking the Chao Chow, but it was fine. A nice clean hotel right by the North Train Station. The room was comfortable, and the buffet had a variety of good foods. Being a cheapskate I wouldn't book it at list price, but got a steal of a... more

First off, this hotel is right next to the Red light district. It's not much, Decor that is stuck in the 70's, smells of cigarette smoke and has an elevator that maybe 3 people can fit in. Now aside from that the staff is incredible, very friendly and helpful. Also it is nice because it is right across from the... more

We booked through our agent and was told it was a nice, upscale place. The staff was friendly on the first day. Our room had a torn, worn comforter, the bed sunk very deep and the window was broke-it had a glass plate covering it on the inside. The top of the drapes were black with dirt. The carpet was... more

This hotel is run by a Chinese management to a great effect. It's a proper 4 star with excellent staff. Reception staff spoke flawless English, in addition to numerous other languages. Buffet breakfast is possibly slightly less than one would expect in such a four star hotel but equally satisfying. Rooms were large and comfortable. The only hitch is its... more

I stayed here for three nights. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and had the usual coffee making facilities etc.. The breakast is the reason for "strange" in the title of this review. No big fry-ups but plenty of noodles and yogurt!!!! the staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful and advised where to go/not to go. The receptionist was extremely... more

Definitely not for the Irish. Bar closes 10.10 p.m. Beer and soft drinks were the only beverages available. Breakfast was a disaster. No variety either chinese, stale bread or yoghurt. Rooms smelt musty. Toilets moved with you. Lifts were terrifying. The staff are friendly. Valuable lesson learnt: ALWAYS read the reviews before you book. more

I read all of these reviews before booking Chao Chow Palace and most are fairly accurate to be honest., The area around can be quite intimidating for some, and lots of funny looks and busy, dodgy people hanging around, but hey, it's right bang in the middle of the red light district- what does one expect? The underpass which we walked... more

Hotel Chao Chow Palace, what can I say? The hotel is less than a stones throw away from the local red light district. Infact it is in the centre of it. This can be a little intimidating for groups of females travelling alone. The hotel itself is a bit of a let down. It may be described as shabby but... more

What can I say! It's near the town but even nearer the red light district!! You can look out the window and have an evenings entertainment with the kerb crawlers, and boy racers all hassling the local ladies of the night. This could be potentially offputting to any potential guests returning to the hotel because be warned if you are... more
