The location is near perfect, close to restaurants , shops and museums. It is in a little side street so you need to park in a public car park close by (Groenplaats). The entrance is beautiful, giving a modern twist to a very old building. Check-in is rather late, from 15:00 and our room was not ready until 15:45, a... More

So after you have looked at all the neat triangular roofs in Antwerp's squares you might consider staying in the attic of one - that is room 10 of the Matelote, the attic suite complete with ancient roof timbers and the longest living / bedroom / bathroom we have ever stayed in, the length of the building. The hotel is... More

Wonderful small Boutique hotel in the heart of Antwerp. Very personalized, stylish design Boutique hotel in a quiet street close to the many wonderful sights of this wonderful City. Every room is different and nicely appointed, spacious and airy. Loved the design note but also the extremely helpful and Kind People at the reception. If you want a place where... More

When we arrived at this hotel, we were told that we had been upgraded to the best suite, which was, indeed, sizable and lovely. Unfortunately, it was not until late at night that we discovered that there was no hot water. The next day (a Sunday), a technician came to try to fix the water heater but was unable to... More

This hotel is in a great location, right in the middle of the city centre within walking distance of all the shops, attractions etc.. However the rooms are really small and basic. I didn't like how the bathroom/toilet isn't really in a separate room.. The double bed in the room I stayed in was pushed in the room. If it's... More

I loved my stay at the Hotel Matelote. It is a small Boutique style hotel in the heart of the old part of Antwerp, only a few steps away from major sights. There are only somewhat more than 10 rooms, each one different, spacious and very well appointed. Details matter. The staff is extremely helpful and supportive, especially Tessa who... More

The location couldn't be better, rooms well appointed and exremely quiet , staff more than helpful. The stairs are certainly not an issue as our bags were taken to, and collected from our rooms. Thoroughly recommended for a short stay in the old part of the city.

I was with a Belgian friend who chose the hotel for the location. His favorite beer bar was around the corner! Room was small so don't bring large luggage and most rooms are not on the ground floor. Breakfast was not included in the price. Expensive but you pay for a great location.

Great location, but in a very quiet pedestrianised street. This small boutique hotel mingles the ancient with the modern. We had room 9 up a spiral staircase, ample sized, particularly the bathroom, which had a dual shower enclosure which was a first for us! Staff very helpful with restaurant advise and confirming flights. We skipped the 12 euro breakfast in... More

This small hotel is ideally situated in the city. In the ancient part of Anvers and 5 min walk to the cathedral you will find all necessary shop and restaurant by walk. Matelote Hotel took place in an ancient medieval building, the lobby is height and very modern. Warm welcome in English by employee (pretty rare in that city). No... More
