We had one night in Antwerp, but I would actually love to go back and spend more time. The Hotel Matelote is a short ride from Antwerpen Centraal station, and only a couple blocks from the Grote Markt, so the location is the best feature of this hotel. The staff was friendly when we checked in, and let us store... More

I stayed at the Matelote for one night while travelling through the Benelux. I had a small room on the third floor - number 9, I want to say. I find the hotel to be charming. Yes the rooms are bit small, but you can tell they have tried hard to update them. To be clear - this is not... More

This is a nice and well decorated small hotel located in the historical center but it has some drawbacks. It's in a pedestrian street so be ready to carry your luggage around 200-300m. There's a public parking nearby It doesn't have lifts, so you will need to take your luggage through 1 or 2 floors of spiral stairs The standard... More

Dear Madam, Dear Sir, We are very sorry to read that although you found our hotel nice and well decorated and our staff nice and helpful, you were not completely happy about your room in our hotel because of its small size. Our hotel is, as you have seen, situated in the old historical part of Antwerp in a 16th... More

Just here for a night for business. Got room 8. Very dissapointing indeed if you consider this hotel has 4 stars. First of all you need to take a tiny staircase to get to the room, which would be a chalkenge gor anyone with a bit of luggage. The room is dark, painted in old fashioned brown colours and needs... Dear Madam, Dear Sir, We feel very sorry about your disappointment about your stay in our hotel. Apparently there was some confusion about our hotel that has three stars and not four like you expected. Our hotel is, as you have seen, situated in the old historical part of Antwerp in a 16th century building. This provides us with a... More

Just around the corner from the attractions of Antwerp, although there are no parking facilities. Modern design in the public areas. Our room was a little more shabby than chic, with a pretty poor bathroom, but the bed was good. Continental style breakfast.

Friendly staff, good welcome upon arrival. Well located in the centre of town. Our room was clean, modern and well equipped for a hotel in this price class. I think that, based on comments about the rooms being a bit in need of renovation, the rooms must have been renovated since then. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable spread and... More

This hotel is built within a converted 16th Century property and mixes some old touches with wooden beams, with modern comtemporary design. There is only (I think) 7 bedrooms in the property. One word of warning, the stairs up to the 1st and 2nd floor, are presumably original and very narrow, so not for anyone with diffficulty to climb stairs.... More

We had won a voucher for a 1 night stay and we’ve been upgraded to a junior suite. So we were not paying customers and maybe we can judge correctly. 2 points for improvement, first off all the stone floor in the bathroom is not very clean and difficult for maintenance aldo it’s very nice. And secondly the stairs are... More

A small street. Two half block turns from Grote Markt. We have walked to four museums on our first day! The fridge is full of free water etc. tea and coffee are nonstop in the lobby. There is a courtyard and I am using wifi on the room's terrace presently. Gorgeous white room with couch. Just one flight of stairs.... More

We recently stayed at Hotel Matelote for one night as part of a mini break in Belgium. The hotel was in a great location, in the centre and close to everything we wanted to see. The room was great: spacious and bright, comfy bed and modern decor. The bathroom was really good, with a lovely big bath and powerful hot... More
