We were not expecting much of this place because of the average reviews. However our experience was outstanding. The staff was vert careful. The girl at the desk was really concerned by our needs. Also the room was clean and had air conditionning wich was useful in this time if the year. Would recommend for couples, families or lone travelers.

Hotel Van Walsum is a bit of a paradox. Everything was adequate with the exception of the actual room. The staff is friendly and helpful. The dining room was cozy and the breakfast was nice (very good coffee). The hotel has a lounge/work area which is spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was spare but clearly renovated and adequate. Unfortunately, the... More

Chose this hotel on reccomendations. On reaching the receptionist seemed uninterested in his work and probably gave us the worst rooms in the hotel. Had booked 2 one with a double bed and the second with two singles. We were given both with two singles near the stairs on the second floor, the smallest rooms that have every stay in! The... More

We stayed at van Walsum for 6 days, on end of May '15. Hotel was nice in general and staff was friendly also. Room was a bit small (considering that we took the "comfort double room", normal one probably was even smaller), but the rest was ok, we had a nice balcony, where we could have a tea/coffee or smoke.... we stayed here recently and over all we decided that we would recommend this hotel for a short city break - especially if on a budget . Book the room with the breakfast included as it is also good value , otherwise you pay an extra 13 euro on top . It is a small hotel with an elevator ,in... More

We stayed for two nights in an airco room overlooking the street with a small balcony. The room was very clean and quite large with an updated bath. It has been family owned and operated for many years, and they make you feel very welcomed. It is located 2 blocks from the tram stop and very close to the Metro,... More

Exactly what we needed, central, comfortable, and good value. Good breakfast, but a little pricey. Room was a good size, shower was good. Quiet location. service was good, and everything was clean and efficiently run.

The neighboorhood is not the best at night, but sure is safe enough! Close to the center, great staff. The hotel is old but very well kept. Breakfast is good and diner is pretty okay as well. The rooms are good and most important of all the bed is nice. Ask for a room in the back.

If you normally avoid city-centre hotels because they seem impersonal and overpriced, or because there is no easy parking available, the van Walsum is for you. I particularly like this hotel, especially the room on the second floor with a terrace. I think this hotel is great value for money and will make a point of staying here when in... More

This hotel is ideally located near the center of Rotterdam and near countless shops, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, near the Tram, and other local hot spots. We typically toured on foot or on the tram and found everything convenient. The hotel has breakfast and snacks and a bar in the lobby for those late evening night caps or pre-evening libation....
