This bed and breakfast is a place my wife and I will stay in each time we visit Rotterdam because our room was clean and comfortable, our breakfasts fresh and satisfying, and the location perfect for us. Yohan, the proprietor of Hemelrijck B&B, was unfailingly generous, gave sage advice on good restaurants, let us use his umbrella on rainy days,... More

In april I stayed with my kids in the bed&breakfast, in both rooms. The building is situated in a nice neighbourhood, an has a unique charm. The rooms were very cosy and clean. We slept wonderfully, in quiet surroundings and in a good bed. Johan is a nice guy, great hospitality and he serves a delicious breakfast. Tram 8 (stopping... More

Johan is a delightful person, and very helpful, but this really does not meet the demands of the hospitality industry. Both rooms (and there are only two!) are at the top of some impossibly narrow and winding steps. So take note! Secondly there rooms were not serviced at ALL during our time there. It was all so utterly basic. It... More

I'm really sorry to hear you were not happy in my B&B. l think it would have been helpful if you told me this while you stayed here so I could have done more to make you feel comfortable. There is a warning on my website and in previous reviews about the steep stairs in my house. It is a... More

Johan's personal touch is a appreciated. He welcomed us in his sunny kitchen with a cup of tea and we chatted about things to do in Rotterdam and how to get around. On Johan's recommendation we ate at Zinos; a little pricey but well worth it. Our room opened onto private courtyards and the spring sun in the afternoon was... More

We stayed at het Hemelrijck for 4 nights. First of all, it was wonderfully priced and fairly close to the centre of Rotterdam - from the B&B we walked everywhere around the city. The apartment was located in a quiet neighborhood. We always felt safe throughout our entire visit. The bed was extremely comfortable. Our host was very gracious and... More

We have just returned from Johan's warm hospitality. He has a lovely approachable friendly manner, and is easy to chat to. His bed and breakfast is tastefully decorated. The stairs are steep and windy but that's usual in Holland I understand. His breakfast is delightful, complete with candles! The breakfast is beautifully fresh and plentiful and if staying more than... More

Johan is the type of host you want - someone who enjoys running a great B & B! We are a family of three who stayed 5 days in May 2013 with Johan in both of his spotless rooms. This worked well for our 21 year old - she had her own space and own en-suite bath. The stairs are... More

My husband and I have just returned from staying in Johan's B&B where we had a fantastic stay. As many people have already commented on the breakfasts are delicious and Johan's hospitality is excellent. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated in a unique style.
