This was our second stay - we came back especially to stay at the hotel again for a late summer long weekend. We stayed in the secret garden room - I won't spoil it for anyone else but it is absolutely gorgeous and a proper secret haven. The restaurant was fabulous - such fresh ingredients and lovely to sit outside... More

We visited Villa Augustus because my friends had been married and honeymooned here. It's beautiful, an old water plant on the sea transformed into a hotel, restaurant and gorgeous flower, vegetable and English landscape gardens. I did not stay in the hotel. But I can vouch for the restaurant. The shrimp croquettes were delicious, as were the lamb and the... More

The hotel lived up to its advertising, and we had a very enjoyable stay albeit only for one night on the way to the ferry. It's a short taxi ride from the station, and on the waterside. In the afternoon we walked into the centre of the city, and it took about 20 minutes. We had a room in the... More

A place of peace, surrounded by the most amazing vegetable and fruit garden, with loads of creative quirks, all mod cons, really good veggie predominant restaurant (many ingredients fresh from the garden). Equally at home for kids, couples, weddings, evening dinners. And the staff are so friendly and helpful. Giant double beds, big baths (showers as well), The shop next... More

Villa Augustus is really a beautiful place with a great vibe. Rooms are really nice and the garden is great for walks. The shop downstairs at the restaurant is fantastic with beautiful books and food. When you go here, you just go for Villa Augustus, because there is not much around. But that's ok!

THE best hotel I've ever stayed in. Friendly, service minded, different, unique. The old water tower is an experience worth while getting. The style and ambiance of this place is just perfect. No luxury standard box hotel, but a place way out of the ordinary. Get a room in the tower or a garden room for a little extra, overlooking... More

You'll pay more for a so-called Garden Room if you have children. These prefabs are worse than Centre Parcs or Butlins. The bunks have missing railings around the top bunk and are simply dangerous for children. These rooms are tiny and poorly decorated, no more than an up-market garden shed in our opinion. We ended up paying 140E+ and one... More

I stayed at the Villa Augustus while traveling on business. It is truly the most unique and zany hotel I have stayed at – this is a good thing! The hotel is built into an old water tower and is surrounded by crops, used in the onsite restaurant. Rooms are all decorated in very abstract ways, the particular room I... More

This hotel is an excellent choice for a weekend together. We stayed on the fifth floor what used to be the water reservoir. The rooms are nicely decorated and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is downstairs with big tub and walk in shower. The city is within walking distance, for dinner however you could stay on the premises... More

Very good weekend! The hotel is very "special" totally different from other ones but in a positive way. Large rooms, king size beds, large bathroom. Everything was perfect: the view, the gardens, the restaurant and what to say about the breakfast! excellent.
