Absolutely loved our stay here. We were welcomed by the smell of baking and woken up by the small of baking the next morning as well, which was heavenly. We booked a room on the last floor (it was expressedly mentioned that there were steep stairs, so no surprise) and it was super cozy and completely renovated. Breakfast was very... More

Oozes character, huge rooms, and fantastic staff. Great location. Bose sound dock was a nice touch for all you music lovers. Could do with a bit a touching up in places, but apart from that we had a pleasant stay. Don't be tempted by the cafe next door. We went and had a very bad experience.

Hotel Aan de Dam is easy to find. It is right on the main road just before the large parking lot where you enter the old town. The hotel is actually an old house. There is no elevator. Our room was very large with three chairs, a table and sofa with coffee table. There is no mini bar. The bathroom... More

We booked 2 suites described as spacious and elegant .When we arrived we were shown up 3 flights of very steep stairs to 2 very dated , shabby rooms .This is not what we believed we had booked , the owner took no responsibility and said these were modern suites and we should have rung the hotel direct and not... I booked this as the base for a week exploring Walcheren and Bergen op Zoom on the basis of its location in the heart of old Middelburg (handy for strolling out to find an evening meal, and for exploring the surrounding streets of the historic merchant quarter) and the website photos of the bedrooms, each of which has a totally... Six of us stayed for one night whilst cycling through Holland and into Belgium. Our hosts were very welcoming and provided us with secure cycle storage in the cellar. Our particular room was huge, with a nice view of the rear gardens, good sized bathroom, both very clean. The bed was large and very comfortable. The hotel location was good... More

If you like hotels with a bit of character then you will love this hotel. It is so different from the modern contemporary chains of hotels that merge into one after a while. Hotel staff very helpful. Bicycle friendly with a storage area available.

Designed by the great 17th century architect Jacob van Campen, once an office for the VOC, aan de Dam is the perfect choice for a stay in the beautiful little town of Middelburg. The members of the staff of the aan de Dam are very nice and very helpful. I stayed in room L1, a very large, high-ceilinged space at... More

We visited this hotel for one evening whilst exploring Zeeland. The hotel has plenty of character and is located as the name suggests on the dam. The room we were given was at the top of the hotel, it was large and nicely furnished with the addition of a small kitchen area. The bathroom had recently been refurbished and had... More

Instead of going to a regular café or bar, we like to find unusual places to have a cup of tea or a glass of beer. This hotel which dates from the 17th century offers a lovely setting to do just that. The building is beautiful, and so is the garden, which is situated at the back. It's very private... More
