The Hotel is one of those rare finds in Europe that you dont want the word to spread to much because then it will be hard to get a room in the future. The rooms are comfortable and clean, combined with that kind of old world charm it is awesome. Mark is there pretty much always around to assist with... More

This is a really delightful refuge. Marc, the genial owner, is extremely welcoming and informative. He and his partner have a keen eye for design, and their aesthetic makes staying here all the more enjoyable, as it extends to all aspects of the hotel. Even the food at breakfast is attractive. And should you be back at the hotel pre-dinner,... More

I thought this was a splendid hotel. Marc and Ruard were very welcoming, and the en suite room was very clean and comfortable. It had a great coffee machine and there were complimentary nibbles. They have a good art collection which makes a pleasant change from the safe dull pictures you find in the larger hotels. Marc told us they... More

Very nice and welcoming hosts, the rooms are beautifully decorated with hand-picked items. We had a little balcony looking down at the garden and some chickens. There was free coffee and tea in the room and the mini-bar was awesome: smoothies, organic lemonade, nice wine, etc. - not the usual commercial stuff. At night this is a quiet place that... More

I was immediately met by Marc, who carried my suitcase up the narrow steep staircase (very Dutch!) to the top (2nd) floor to show me my room, explain the espresso machine, and give me my key -- no "check-in" in any formal sense. He and his partner appreciate modern art and the place is full of it. Simple but excellent... More

A great place with a great continental breakfast and coffee. A very nice host and nice, cozy but stylish bedrooms. I have stayed twice and this is now my preferred place in Utrecht. If you can, try to get a room at the top floor - the middle floor is a bit noisy with a shared bathroom, people coming and... More

De Admiraal, about a fifteen minute walk from the city centre, is warm, welcoming and excellent value. The hotel is based in a charming old townhouse, where the owners have cleverly made use of the high ceilings to display modern artwork, creating a stylish, contemporary atmosphere. Extra touches, such as espresso machines in the rooms, are very thoughtful, and the... More

The first think you notice is the welcome you get, either from Marc or Ruard. Personal, warm and welcoming. No check in procedure, just a warm hello and you're led to your room. There are only 8 rooms in the the Admiraal. I was in #7. More spacious than you'd expect, given the size of the building. I was given... More

There is nothing wrong with the Admiraal, it is a clean and well-priced layover spot within easy reach (by transit) of the train station in beautiful Utrecht. I only spent a night here, en route to Leewuarden, but it is adequate for solo stays; if you don't mind shared rest facilities on a floor. Not much of a view from... More
