The location of the Apollo Hotel is ideal in Utrecht - especially when coming by train. Requests for service (additional pillows, replacement of a noisy fan, etc.) were handled in a friendly and prompt way. The breakfast buffet was very good, combining more typically American foods (eggs, etc.) and more usual European foods (cold cuts, etc.). Aside from being too... More

Booked the apollo, as a result of a few searches. Position is perfect in Utrecht, walking distance to probably 200 eateries and yards from the grand canal. The hotel is clean, and for Holland very normal. The underground transfer carpet was a little tired , but it all worked for me.

Ah yes, the Apollo Hotel in Utrecht. Made my reservation online, got my confirmation and a map how to get to the hotel but no hint that the hotel is in a pedestrian zone and the next parking garage a half a mile away. Not easy to maneuver with luggage. The reception is on the second floor and so is... More

Easy access to the railway station via the shopping centre. Access via steps to small lobby. Minuscule lift. Reasonably well appointed rooms with tea/coffee making facilities. The size of the sink presents a challenge when filling the kettle. Ventilation an issue - it is possible to open the single glazed windows but this gives issues with noise, particularly with rooms... The location is great, as it is close both to the central station and the center of the city. Room was clean and calm (as we asked) but poorly decorated. Service was friendly. Overall not bad if it wasn't for the price, too expensive for what it is.

This would have been rated good had we had the bedroom we were given on the second night. This was advertised as a 4star superior room. Oh no it was not. I could just get through the gap between the end of the bed and the desk and chair but had to sidle pass the bed and the wall to... More

NOISY I asked for a quiet room because I needed a good night's sleep ahead of a busy business day. The first room they gave me was right over the busy main street intersection - motorbikes, buses, car horns etc. I asked for a different room. In this second room, I could hear the clanging of church bells every half... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Apollo. Our room was clean and of a good size, nicely decorated with a lovely large comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean en suite with a good shower. The staff were helpful and friendly. We especially liked the fact that there was free tea and coffee in the lounge and also free wi-fi access. (In the... A shameful headline for a reluctant review of a wonderful place with an embarrassing flaw: 9 euro for wi-fi for one device, 4.50 for another, chunked into 12-hour slices. I logged on at one thirty in the morning, was told my clock had 10 1/2 hours to go. Such a shame that the email confirmation hid this so sneakily "Free... More

Great central location. But no place to meet anyone or wait for them unless on the 9th floor lounge! No bar. But with the night life of Utrecht you don't need a great hotels. Rooms are clean and comfy. But try and get rooms on floors 7,8 away from the traffic. No air con can compromise things.
