During a visit to the Netherlands in July, I popped across to stay in the hotel for a few nights. I got a fairly reasonable deal on-line, although I'm not sure that I'd want to pay full price here. The reception staff were friendly and helpful in my experience. The room was facing the Markermeer (was a sea but is... More

My husband and I have just spent 7 nights at this hotel and we were terribly disappointed. We paid extra for a lake view of which I am glad as the room was very claustrophobic very dark and very warm . The beds were very uncomfotable with very heavy duvets on them . The bathroom was very old fashioned and... More

The welcome at reception was warm and efficient. I had a very good-sized double bedroom. The breakfast - at additional expense was good, although, even at 7.30 am, the cooked items looked unattractive and overcooked. There was a very good range of cold foods. The boiled eggs were not fast cooled and so the yolks had an unpleasant great surround.... More

Excellent position becoming rather sad inside. The staff have very low moral and there seems to be a lost link between them and the management chain. For example, my partner is a vegan and we requested soya milk before we arrived. No soya milk at breakfast the next morning. Asked for a vegan alternative for dinner and offered a simple... More

If you don't mind paying a five star rate for a three star hotel and you are able to book a room on the lake side this hotel is fine. The location is wonderful, rooms are clean and cosy. We booked a family room, which was nice. Also if you arrive by car call the hotel beforehand. You need to... More

If you prefer somewhere that's in the center of it all but off the beaten path this is the place. I didn't want to end out trip in Amsterdam. I wanted something not so City like. This was it. Volendam is a very touristy type village that's like walking back in time. After walking and biking and doing all your... More

Hotel met expectations except for sleep. Very important while on vacation. Stayed three nights and didn't realize when the receptionist 'upgraded' us to a waterview room that it was located above the hotel loading dock. First experience: Laundry truck unloading at 6:45 am. Very loud. A ruckus. When we asked the receptionist if this would happen again she assured that... More

An old-style hotel really located on the water's edge was the perfect location to visit Marken (and island) which you can access either by car or by boat (from Volendam). The room was quite spacious and the beds comfortable. There is a really nice foyer downstairs where you can relax in comfortable sofas while drinking, talking or reading. I especially... More

I booked this hotel last minute as we wanted to go back to Holland for our honeymoon, after having been there a year before. We knew the area fairly well as we stayed further down the coast of the lake before. The first negative thing, which niggled me a bit, was when I initially emailed the hotel before our stay... More
