Maggy rejected us at the 11th hour, after making us wait for hours to hear any news at all. A complete shambles, waste of time. We were refunded but not without some hoo-ha to go alongside it. I don't know what happened with this woman, but she came across as a little...weird.

The smell of tobacco smoke and weed was overpowering. They only take cash, the tv had no aerial, the widow didnt close, the door was insecure and the place is generally a hovel. I have stayed in some pretty awful places but I have never had to ask for my money back and leave. They even charged me €35 for... More

It's terrible and felt like a brothel . I would never go back there again and It's very hard to find it, it took us half an hour to find it even though we had the address. The beds were new and comfortable and the pillows too.

This is the worst place I have ever stayed.Internet photos make it look like a decent hotel but in reality it is an unclean, smelly firetrap.Had to climb to the third floor up ladder like stairs. The whole place smelled like stale cigarette smoke. The rooms are poorly marked, beds sag like soggy wet noodles and I was bitten by some unknown bug in... We stayed at Maggys at the beginning of the year during a road trip around Europe. We had quite a bad car crash in Berlin on new years eve which resulted in writing off our car and making us late travelling over to Amsterdam. It was a truly awful ordeal but called Maggy to explain the situation and advised that... More

A group of us stayed here recently, and after about 30 minutes of walking up and down the street, and asking various shop owners where this place was (none of them actually knew for some reason, or didn't want to be associated with the place perhaps?), we finally found the door! No hotel front, or a nice welcoming reception, just... More

After spending about 40 minutes walking up and down the right street looking for this hell hole, we finally found a single brown door which looked battered in with a tiny sign on it indicating that this was maggys. So for starters, if this is your first time staying in this place (which i really hope that it is), good... More

Judging from the reviews on this page, it seems like the plumbing problems are plaguing Maggy's B&B unreasonably frequently. I was only informed that my booking was canceled upon arrival, when I unsuccessfully tried to get into the premise with an intention of checking in. After ringing the bell 3 times, I called the owner, who adviced me to meet... More

If you want a roof over your head for a few nights with the best location in Amsterdam then stay here. If you are used to the Ritz, scared of a few more stairs than usual and plan to stay in your room drinking earl grey then stay at Hotel De L'Europe for 400 euro a night. This is a... More

We booked this accommodation in June and when we arrived were kept at the door and told by someone (not the proprietor) that the bathroom was broken, given our money back, and shown the door. It was 3pm on a very busy Amsterdam Friday. No advice or assistance in finding alternative accommodation was offered. Nothing under 300 euros was available... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
