Located in a lovely old house in a quiet neighbourhood with shops and cafes just around the corner. We stayed in the room on the first floor - which was really large, clean and comfortable. Frank, the owner, was very friendly and helpful with suggestions and directions. The kitchen is always available and stocked with basics - and Frank brings... More

Immensely enjoyed the Jordaan area and my stay at WestViolet for one week February 2012. Frank Nolen is an amazing, kind person who truly gets the meaning of hospitality. His care and attention to detail and quality is evident, plus he is so helpful while being completely respectful and non-intrusive. I felt completely at ease and at home. His B+B... More

Splendid location in the Jordan district. Spacious room (we stayed at the first floor), well equipped kitchen free to use 24/7. Great host - Frank brought us fresh bakery every morning. Clean, big and cosy rooms. We'll be back!

I had booked the WestViolet based on two things, that it had good reviews from most travelers specifically comments on how helpful and friendly Frank Nolen is and also the fact that it seemed to be pretty booked up in general (although having only two studios to lease out could mean it can get booked up fairly easily). And as... More

The bed and breakfast is in a fantastic location, not far from the Anne Frank House and a lot of lovely shops and cafes. There is a lively market at the end of the main street on Saturday mornings. The walk from the train station is not too long either - we did it with our hand luggage quite easily.... More

My husband and I visited WestViolet with another couple during the first stop on a multi city roadtrip. There are only 2 rooms, so we had the entire b&b to ourselves. We arrived on an early morning flight and were thrilled to be welcomed in, shown to our room and lead to the kitchen where we had breakfast. We stayed... More

We loved this B & B! The spacious and lovely second floor apartment had a balcony overlooking a garden, a modern bathroom and the shared kitchen on the floor was like having our own! We were right in the middle of a quaint neighborhood and within walking distance of transit to everything! The local Saturday market was amazing! Thank you... More

Our 5 day stay in Amsterdam was made memorable by Frank Vollen and his beautiful house. Comfortable beds, modern bathroom, a 24 hour access to the kitchen and all food, very private, perfect location tucked away in a small side street a few steps away from the main drag. Frank bent over backwards to make sure all was perfect - I... More

Everything was just perfect. The staff was very good - Conny helped us a lot, answered all the questions. We stayed in the room on second floor, next to kitchen. The room is very nice, clean, with a small balcony. B&B is situated in 15-20 minutes walking from Central Station. And it is near Westerkerk and Anna Frank's House. The... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
