We stayed here for 4 nights and loved every minute of it. The B & B is excellent and our room was spacious with an excellent (huge) bed and a very good bathroom. We had a small balcony also. It is in the lovely and quiet Jordaan area near the canals and was a fabulous place to base ourselves to... More

We booked via the web site for a four night stay. We received a quick and helpful reply with directions to the B and B, and recommended restaurants in the area. We selected the ground floor room and paid 115 E per night plus tax. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Andre who cheerfully informed us of all the... More

We selected this place because of the reviews and I must say it did not disappoint. We were met by Andre and our room was on the ground floor, spacious and a little different. The location was fantastic and everything was within a 10 minute walk. The Wi- fi was fantastic, we enjoyed our breakfast etc It was just a... More

West Violet was a very good B and B in the very trendy Jordaan canal area of Amsterdam. Excellent accommodation - clean, well managed and good value. Breakfasts we're help yourself but you will never go hungry.

Stayed for 3 nights with my mother and Frank couldn't have taken greater trouble. The room was very comfortable and the restaurant recommendations were spot on. The B&B is in a wonderful old Amsterdam house just 5 minutes walk from Anne Frank's house and many other key places to visit. I will definitely be going back to the WestViolet on... More

Warmly recommend WestViolet for all single/couples travellers to Amsterdam. Situated in the beautiful and quiet quarter of Jordaan, about a 10 minute walk from the city centre, it's the perfect location for your visit. The B&B only has two rooms (both en-suite with shower wet-rooms) - one on the ground floor and one on the first floor - and a... More

Located in the Jordaan, an authentic central quarter in Amsterdam, this B& is much more than you would imagine. Totally renovated and modernised traditional town house made into a small residence. Small footprint means that the stairs are steep to watch put! Friendly welcome from our host, but otherwise we had free access to the kitchen facilities and food at... More

Can't recommend WestViolet highly enough. Your host Frank is a marvel, hugely caring and very generous. The property is a very comfortable, spacious and warm environment, and situated in the heart of the lovely Jordaan neighbourhood, with some lovely bars, restaurants and cafés only moments away. It's just a short walk (10 minutes) to Dam Square, so the city centre... More

This lovely B&B certanily felt like home and I was welcomed warmly to by the owners. With free run of the kitchen upstairs, I was able to make myself several cups of tea during the evening, and the warm feeling about the place made me want to extend my stay! My ground floor room had doors out to a small... More

We stayed here for 3 nights recently, and we had a good experience overall. The owners were away and we were taken care of by Rosaline who runs another B&B in town. We were late checking in late due to our luggage being lost, and we appreciate Ieke (?) for letting us in. There are only two rooms in the... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
