Booked the private twin room for myself and the missus hoping for an affordable accommodation that was still comfortable but unfortunately this one fell a bit below our expectations. It was on the very top floor which is up six flights of stairs. Location is great which is the best thing about the hostel. Other than that if we are... More

A good hostel in a calm area close to the central station. We stayed in a twin room on the sixth floor, watch out for steep stairs, and plenty of them. We had a mouse in our room and when approaching the staff about the little rodent we got no reaction. It might be usual, judging from the reaction, but... More

We stayed in the private double room on the top floor and I've never seen a better room in a hostel before. Better than an expensive hotel and very reasonable priced. Room is huge and beautiful, lovely views and a mini balcony. Also has an en suite bathroom and limited kitchen facilities but you're across the hall from a modern... More

The abusive proprietor of this hostel abruptly canceled my reservation and kicked me out simply because I politely asked to pay for one night at a time. He didn't want to deal with me and just said "I'm canceling your reservation, you can go somewhere else." This strange, cramped hostel only has two large dorm rooms, with nothing else --... More

I stayed in a 20 bed mixed dorm with some of my friends. The rooms were clean and spacious. The layout of the rooms meant they were very social and you got to meet lots of people during your stay. There was good wifi in the rooms and plugs to charge your phones. The bathrooms were shared and basic and... More

Its average all round really, pillows r awefull, noise from street is annoying, generally clean, bathroom is ok and water was good pressure and heat. Bed was alright not the best, bit squeaky & short IOW toes hanging over the edge! Staff i found friendly so no issue there! Bring your full lung capacity and a small luggage bag if... More

The room itself (10 bed female dorm) was fine, one shared bathroom, great view, spacious and comfortable. However, the guy on reception was horrible. He charged one of our party £15 more than the rest of us and later when we checked out on the 8th of August he demanded we all pay an extra £15 each. When we refused,... More

The facilities in Aivengo were the worst out of all the hostels I stayed in on my holiday. There are only two showers downstairs, and from what I could see, these showers were for 40 people to use. There was a 'kitchen' right next to the toilets which consisted of only a refrigerator and a microwave. There were some small... More

The private double is absolutely the nicest room - hotel or hostel- I have stayed in in Europe. So cool! Other than check in/check out I had 0 interaction with staff. Location is unbeatable. Seriously, if you are traveling with your significant other/ a friend you don't mid sharing a bed with, get the private double!

I stayed here for 4 nights in early June and was thoroughly impressed. The rooms were clean and the view from our room was beautiful. The location is great. The hostel is situated right next to the main station and you can walk to most places or hire a bike. There are plenty of rental bike services on the street... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
