Me and my friend came here and my other 3 friends stayed at a near by Ibis. For one, our room was huge and easily 2.5x bigger than my friends ibis counterpart. The room was also much cheaper too and came with free continental breakfast in the morning. The only reason it's a 2* is because of the size of... More

Hotel Adolesce is very well situated for seeing Amsterdam on foot. As a single female traveller, I felt very comfortable going out both day and night in this area. Loved the all day buffet, and the cheery hotel owner. My single room was on the first floor. Stairs very steep, but part of the building's character. The shower and toilet... More

I love the quaint feel of the hotel. The single room located on the top floor is spacious. The steep stairs may come as a shock to you, so it's not recommended for people with mobility problems & those with heavy luggage. Location is quiet & there's a lovely view of the canal just a stone's throw away. Property is... More

Stayed here for three nights in August, the location is great, its about 6 minutes walk to/from Waterlooplein station which the train station you can connect to from Amsterdam central if coming from Schiphol airport. There's a square where all the tourists congregate about 8-10 minutes away, while you could walk to Amsterdam central itself in about 30 minutes. The... More

Just stayed five nights at this hotel with our grandson (aged 9) and found it an excellent base for experiencing Amsterdam. We had a large room at the front, with a view over the canal and the Amstelhof/Hermitage Museum. No complaints at all about the hotel. The 24 hour breakfast bar suited me particularly, as I can't eat breakfast in... More

We have just returned from a short break in Amsterdam with our 8 year old grandson. Kais the proprietor was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very spacious and spotlessly clean. The 24 hour open buffet was very welcome my grandson especially enjoyed the painted boiled eggs( it was Easter) little extra's which meant a lot.. It is a... More

I stayed a few days in summer when site seeing in Amsterdam. First I did not like this hotel (I used to prefer big once) but then each seemed “disadvantage” became advantage. So, to the city center (RLD among them )))) it is a few minutes walk if you take right route, and Rembrandt museum is very close. On the... More

This is a very belated review sorry Kay's (sorry if wrong spelling too). Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in June 2012. Loved the hotel, the accommodation was attractive, clean and comfortable, the 24 hr snack bar convenient and most of all appreciated the welcoming, helpful, open and friendly proprietor. The situation of the hotel was perfect. Pretty, quiet area but... More

Excellent location - just few blocks from the heart of the city! I really love the house - new equipped but typical “Gracht house” with steep stairs and very surprisingly big rooms (the funny thing is, that you have your private bathroom outside of the room, but it is OK!). You can feel the history from the hotel. It is... More

My husband and I had a few days to spend in Amsterdam and I really wanted to stay in a hotel in which I definitely would know what city I was in when I opened my eyes in the morning. Hotel Adolesce was a perfect fit. An iconic Amsterdam experience, with it's steep staircases and big windows overlooking a quiet... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
