I've stayed in plenty of hostels but this one is by far one of the worst I've stayed in. Stayed in a 10 person dorm, i know it is being renovated but i expect cleanish rooms and bed that didn't squeak or move every time some one rolled over on the bottom bunk. Church bells ring every 5 minutes but... More

My two friends and I (21 & 22 yr olds girls) stayed here for a long weekend Thurs to Mon and we would definitely go back. The location was absolutely perfect, so close to everything (we never needed to pay for public transport anywhere) and easy to find from Amsterdam Centraal when we arrived. The rooms were small but everyone... More

Stayed here on my own in a 10 person dorm room. The location is great, lots to do around here. The beds were actually comfy which I didn't expect from a hostel. The staff were super friendly and I got discount at the awesome crepes and waffles place next door with my wrist band!

Don't stay in this hostel. It's the worst hostel I have ever been. Terrible rooms and disgusting hygiene. When we arrived there were hairs on my bed. there wasn't hot water in our bathroom and there was I pipe broken so it was wet all the time. We just took that hostel because we didn't have any other options. The... More

First of all, the hostel is right next to a church that will play it's church bells every 15minutes in the morning, bring earplugs. The halls, toilets and showers are dirty and cramped. If you're a hygiene freak or so I wouldn't recommend this hostel. But if you're a company of indifferent young men that just want some place to... More

A lot of dust in the room, do not clean under the beds. Windows did not open because of the density of beds and lockers Showers are horrible, no shelves or hanging hooks for clothes or towels Niagara flowed, I commented at reception, but there has not been corrected The room was hot and did not fan or air conditioning

The hostel itself is in a great area of the Red Light District. Amazingly situated, between the central station(train station) and the center. The staff is very kind, always eager to help. However, I would not go there again. The rooms had just the beds with the incorporated bathroom. The bathroom was disgusting as well as the floor in the... More

The hostel is in an excellent location into the city center (Red Light District). Personal are friendly and helpful. Rooms are equipped very spartan. The room could be at least a small table, chairs and a coat rack.

I stayed here for 5 nights in total - there were around 24 of us in total, and we managed to get two 10 bed rooms and one 4 bed room. The location was absolutely perfect - right in/around the red light district, with easy access to the best bars, restaurants and clubs you could find. It's also worth mentioning... More

I have never been more disgusted by a hostel as by this one. Upon arrival, the recepcionist laughed in my face and said to this collegue "you can deal with this one" when I asked for an available room. The bed was overprized: 25 euros for an uncomfortable bed in a 10 persons bedroom. They did not want to show... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
