I have never written a review for anything on the Internet before, but I owe it to the world to warn people about this place. Do not stay here. The hostel itself looks as if it has never been cleaned. There are graffiti tags on every surface. They took two days to put new toilet paper in our bathroom. The... More

It is the worst hostel I've ever been. Very very dirty, I even think they didn't change the sheets. No organization at all: we had to sleep in 9 in a 8-bed room. No space for the breakfast, it was at the reception and we prefer not to have it because the dishes and cutlery were dirty. The only good... More

Positive: friendly staff, clean linen, no cockroaches NegatIve: dirty, mice, toilet and all the rest the worst place I ever stayed in all my life. And this includes local and native so-called hotels in all continents.

I was there with a friend and we did not book a hostel from home. So we were really happy to find one with rooms available. It was quite expensive, but we were the only 2 in an 8 bed dorm. The ensuite had no windows, so you can expect what it looked like in some places (better not touch... More

DON'T STAY HERE!!!!! My group and I checked in here and no more than 3 hours of being there and leaving to get dinner, someone broke in to our room and stole some belongings. The staff claimed that everyone going in and out of each room is closely watched and aren't allowed up to the rooms without a key. They... More

the location is great, same as the provided assistance, :-) , the price is average, if you reach the place in hollydays, uff is difficult everywhere, and the price rise, so is a good idea reserve a room with some prelibation. the entire hostel looks old but is still in good condition. A long hot-shower at night was great! I... More

Stayed here with a friend as a last resort as we forgot to book a hostel in advance. We paid thirty euros each, by far the most expensive room I've ever stayed in in any country.. For this we received a mouldy room, a communal area that appeared to have never been cleaned, and a 'shower' comprising a pipe coming... More

Hostel Aroza is the most terrible hostel I've ever seen. The hostess is a kind woman, but that's all. The room was dirty, just as the linnen. The shower didn't work at all and the toilet wasn't clean. We regret our stay in Hostel Aroza.

I decided to have an overnight adventure in Amsterdam and I had no prior reservations in any hotel or hostel. Good thing that I was able to find Hostel Aroza in Nieuwendijk, quite near the Centraal Train Station. The rate is only 30 euro per night and it was definitely a good deal considering Amsterdam is quite expensive. The view... More

Rooms relatively clean and spacious. However, owner is constantly drunk and/or high, so don't expect to get any help with issues you may have. Having said that, reception staff always friendly. Drinks relatively cheap, too. Worth the price for location alone, though.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
