The hotel is in a very nice area and conveniently located. Very secure as you cannot walk freely in and out of even the hotel lobby/reception as you have to either be buzzed in at the front door or use your key card. The wi-fi was excellent quality - not a hitch. Stairs are typically Amsterdam but good grip on... More

I ended up with the room up the very top of the building... Now I know Amsterdam property is generally tight, but you have to enter through like a cupboard staircase to get up there (which was difficult with only 9kg of luggage to haul up there). The bathroom window didn't lock, the room was very badly lit (hardly any... More

Have stayed here many times and it's clean, comfortable and simple: that's about as far as it goes. For Amsterdam, good price for a room. Staff is OK and the rooms are comfortable and clean. Yes, the stairs are quite steep but it's AMS, this is very Dutch, so get over it, gird your loins and lift your bag upstairs!... More

I last stayed in The Golden Bear 2 years ago and it was cheap, cheerful and a gay hotel. It has since been swallowed up by the Quentin chain and has been stripped of its former charm. The rooms are less welcoming as is the reception, and it's very noisy and full of backpackers etc. However it still comes up... More

I had nothing to do with this booking as it was organised by my best man for my stag night, however I feel compelled to review it for being so poor. Upon arrival the girl behind the counter welcomed us and explained everything that needed to be explained - not once did she crack a smile and was quite uninterested... More

This hotel is located perfectly to explore the city. The hotel itself, although a little tired in places , is fine - decent size bathrooms!!!!! Our stay ( 5 rooms booked) was marred by 'electric iron gate'. The iron supplied by the hotel kept blowing the fuse. The staff member that evening was very unhelpful sorting the issue out. The... This hotel has a great location, which is the best feature with the hotel. We booked a deluxe room. It didn't have any deluxe-like features besides the size of the room, that was good. I have to warn girls with long hair about staying here! The shower had absolutely no preassure, I wouldn't have had any chance of getting shampoo... More

This hotel is in a fantastic central location - we walked to everything we wanted to see. The renovated old building has it's quirks (like a staircase I wouldn't want to navigate after a few drinks!) but the rooms are well appointed - if a bit tiny. One disappointment was discovering that they King Bed was actually two separately made... More

So.... me and the better half decided to travel around Europe and she actually trusted me to book our accomodation. Our first stop was Amsterdam, we didn't want to pay too much but we didn't want to be in a hovel. I had a look around and I eventually found the Quentin Golden Bear. We arrived and the first thing... hotel is centally located...gay friendly but guests are all types. quite clean...stairs are almost terrible...but if you know Amsterdam, this should not impress you much. rooms are nice designed (modern) and warm. I was staying at 3rd floor and my room was quite big with a nice view on the street. only defect the smell coming from the bathroom...better if... More
