Stayed here for one night so we could attend a concert at the ziggo dome. What a stunning hotel if you like art deco, with high ceilings wonderful beds and perfect location and courteous staff. The Hotel is only a short walk from central station so you can easily hop on the train to the venue. We wished we had... More

I very much enjoyed my stay and will chose this hotel again when in Amsterdam. I really like the combination of modern amenities along with old world architecture and hospitality. Very civilized. Ideally located for train and tram. spacious room with immaculate modern bathroom.

The Amrath is steps from Centraal Station, a great home base location for exploring Amsterdam. This hotel has its quirks for sure but the positives far outweigh the occasional inconvenience of an older building. The pool and sauna are very inviting. The pool is adequate for swimming laps; a rare find at this price point. Free mini bar is a... More

The tedious flight of steps leading to the hotel entrance is a bad start, leading to a tiny lobby in this former office building transformed into a hotel, which is far from meeting 5 star criteria. The inside is pokey, with no guest lounge as such, where to relax and meet friends; just a busy bar mostly visited by non... More

Lovely Art Deco style building but now somewhat tired with dated interior decor, with the exception of the very good spa facilities (and staff) all was pretty rough around the edges. ...Very overpriced for the level of service offered. Lack lustre staff who appeared to be poorly motivated, hotel also lacked atmosphere and appeared to be somewhat business orientated. Breakfast... More

Stayed here for three nights. The hotel is I'm art deco style and the rooms have high ceilings, very modern bathrooms but the best part was the bed, OMG, so comfortable, slept so well. Staff were extremely helpful and informative. Loved every night there and very central to walk into town. Would highly recommend this hotel. Good value for money... More

All the staff were more than helpful and welcoming. The rooms are very large and spacious. Only 5/10min walk from most attractions or a short taxi ride. Beautiful luxurious hotel, would highly recommend!

Just a quick stop in Amsterdam and a sneak peak at a place we'll visit again in coming months. The Grand Amrath, flags flying and red carpet entrance makes a statement as we make the short 10minutes walk from Amsterdam central station toward this imposing building. Check in staff are excellent, having to contend with key card and printer issues... More

Stayed for 3 nights. Very impressive building, with some great history, even has a very early version of a lift that still works (you can't ride it anymore though) Rooms all seem to vary a little but all very nice. Service was great and the on site bar and leisure facilities were exceptional.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
