The guy we met there was very friendly and informative. It was a great place for position. Served the purpose of a nights sleep as out most of the day and evening. Don't smoke usually only in Amsterdam and special occasions. Clean but bit moody in places.

met the guy with the keys he was on time and pleasant enough ,he then showed us up to our room, up some very steep stairs ,but this is normal for Amsterdam. The room itself is very small ,but has everything you need even a PlayStation with a few games and dvds ,also a kettle and cups ,but the cups... More

Thank you for staying at Amsterdam Cribs and leaving the review. I apologize for the unpleasant experience that you had because of the smell issues. The pipes have been power-cleaned by a professional plumbing service after you vacated the room. The plumber insisted that the source of the smell was mostly due to the strong wind weather that caused the... More

As a frequent traveller to the most amazing city in the world I was extremely ecstatic when I was told about this place as I have always stayed in hotels and had to go out into the freezing cold if I was wanting a smoke . When arriving the guy that greeted us was friendly and answered any questions we... More

Great location, right in the heart of everything, red light district, dam square, coffee shops everywhere, plenty of places to eat. We stayed in the white widow room, which was great, had everything we needed, even a smart TV, and large windows where you can watch the world go by, and also being able to smoke in the rooms was... Lovely friendly and welcoming greeting, full of tips on how best to enjoy our time in Amsterdam. Right near the RLD and Dam square, so perfect locations. Rooms weren't spotless, but they were cleaned to a good standard, the towels and linen were fresh, the bed really comfy, and there was always plenty of hot water. Perfect accommodation if you... Just got back from staying in the white widow room, the room had everything we needed, toilet and shower, fridge, TV, a box of grinders and pipes for the smokers and a comfy bed . It's in a great location, only a couple of min walk to dam square and round the corner from the red light district. Only downfall... More

Friendly welcome & easy to book. Crib Sativa is the one we stayed at close to Stones & Baba coffeeshops only 5 mins walk (if that) from the station. The room was comfy & served its purpose. FREE WIFI too Clean although there was a lingering smell of sick in the rooms. Ideal location, supermarkets, pizza & restaurants nearby. The... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
