This hotel is well located near Museum plein with Van Gogh museum, Rijskmuseum, Stedelijkmuseum etc. At the time of my visit there was a festival on the square. The staff was nice and helpful, breakfast were average. The only think I did not like was the room we got for the first night. We got room without window! for 6... More

My friend and I began our interrailing trip here so didn't have too high expectations. We were booked into an 8 bed dorm where you could hardly swing a cat. Beds were all squashed together that you could easily touch the person next to you. Metal bunkbeds that were the squeakiest things on the planet. So if you fidget find... More

For the price I paid for this room I expected better. Literally couldn't swing a cat in the room. Badly needs redecorating. The smell from the drains in the toilet was nauseating! The net curtain in the room was filthy and had cigarette burns in it. There was a tv in the room but it was more of an ornament... More

We booked this hostel as part of our interrailing trip and as students to save a bit of money. Big mistake. The hostel is dirty, dull and dreary. You can only access wifi in the main reception/common dining area. The lift only acommodates two people with luggage at the most, so if you're in a group some of you will... More

This hostel is a good size but the room was so so hot!!! No air con and a broken fan meant it was hotter inside that outside. We had a twin private and The room was very small and difficult to fit two people in. The wifi also didn't reach past reception. The breakfast room was a good size and... More

Working in a hotel, you definitely notice things a lot more but this place was absolutely unacceptable. I understand we are staying in a hostel and it isn't necessarily going to be large or high class but it was awful from the second we walked in. Place was extremely stuffy and cigarettes from previous guests were left on the bed.... More

When arriving in the hostel, we were told that our room wouldn't be ready until 2. We expected this so weren't too bothered. We were allowed to put our luggage in the luggage room (which was good at we arrived just after 10am). The luggage room was absolutely stuffed full, and we were lucky to get places to put our... We only slept here for one night, and it cost €140 for a double room. The odd thing was that we had called earlier asking for a room, which was then €120, but which mysteriously disappeared at a second phone call, even though there obviously were rooms available when we arrived there. It was also the only place in all... More

When I first walked in I thought I was in a library because everyone was whispering and keeping to themselves. The rooms were the worst I have ever had. It smelled like mold and my sheets were wet. I checked out early just to get out of there. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere!

As a budget hotel, the location is perfect. Within walking distance of the city centre such as Dam Square, yet away from the hussle and bussle of the city centre. Walls are thin and noise can become an issue from inconsiderate guests, but that did not effect us during our two day stay. Room's are comfortable and clean and the... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
