I really don't know why so many people gave bad reviews. I stayed here in April '07. Admittedly when I booked I thought I would be staying in a guesthouse, but truelove has 14 units (they told me) and will soon have 25, in addition to the rooms in the guesthouse itself. The units are apartments all around the Jordaan... More

I booked this at the last minute so can't really complain, at least they had room. Small one room apartment on the ground floor of a building a few blocks from their shop. The good points: comfortable bed, place seemed clean, fairly quiet, very central location. The not so good. Furnishings basically youth hostel quality. The bathroom / kitchenette combination... We booked this apartment on the internet and it was only after we came back that we saw the negative comments that we felt we had to let our feelings known about it. We arrived at the antique shop on a friday evening where we were told that the people opposite who own a little cafe would phone to let... More

After reading the reviews of the place we were very worried about what we would find. We had even thought about changing hotels but Amsterdam was fully booked!! The "room" we got was actually an apartment in proper Dutch style, along the canal and very characteristic steep stairs. The welcome was quite friendly and we didn't need further assistance, leaving... More

I agree with all opinions about this place that other travelers described. My biggest gripe was that we paid for a certain room w/ a patio and were given a totally different room. The owner was unphased by this and told us that it was just too bad. I can't explain how horrible it felt to have been so mislead-... More

We stayed here two years ago in a beautiful suite above the antique shop, so when going back a year later we decided to stay there again. I wrote to Sean in February requesting this room and making the booking for August. Seven months in advance, and even confirmed it before we left! When we arrived in August we weren't... More

I had an extremely unpleasant experience. After spending several days at the wonderful Mae's B&B, I had to move to another place because Mae's was booked. Aside from the very overpriced room, I found one of the owners of Truelove, Sean, to be extremely rude and uncompromising. On my first day - a Sunday- Sean demanded that I settle the... More

We paid a deposit for this place then settled up in cash when we arrived. I'm still not too sure why they didn't mention they had already debited the payment from the credit card number (held as deposit) before we had actually arrived. It states on the website on which we booked that only cash would be accepted as payment... More

Very disappointing. First, our room wasn't located in the Truelove actual guesthouse, but about 5 minutes away (which was misleading since we had chosen the place because of its location). Second, we had to leave the room for 11:00 (and not noon, as their Web site says) and had not place to leave our luggage. Finally, the place was not... More

I booked the apartments via the internet. They looked interesting and I emailed them to confirm they were onsuite which I was assured they were. When I arrived in Amsterdam the rooms were nor as described and the alternative offered was not suitable. The owners refused even a partial refund. Would have been OK if they had not misled over... This UNESCO World Heritage Site is as historically significant as it is perennially popular. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, shutterbug, or fashionista, odds are you’ll find the Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get lost in a moody meander and a key component to any sightseeing trip to Amsterdam, this area's major draws include the Anne Frank House, the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market, an enviable assortment of independent boutiques along De Negen Straatjes, and of course all of Grachtengordel’s lovely canals and bridges.
