It is lucky that this place is in a good location. Right close to Rembrandt square. Though this did mean it was very noisy. I suspect it is the most run down building in all of Amsterdam. The room smelt mouldy when we arrived. The staff were friendly enough though. Only has basically toast and cereal for breakfast. Overall stay... More

Me and four of my friends stayed at this hotel, we paid just under 100 euros each for 3 nights here so the value was fantastic. You get a comfortable, clean bed with a nice big bathroom that includes a shower, bath etc. If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful place to stay, this is ideal. You have... More

En very good accommodation for a budget tourist travel to Amsterdam. An excellent location on a picturesque canal near Rembrandt Square, easy access by public transport, a lot of cafes and restaurants withing 5 minutes' walking distance, many famous Amsterdam's landmarks easily accessible on foot. The staff was friendly and helpful, the place is clean and offers a comfort fairly... More

This hostel is suitable for low budget travelers but I have to say that I would never come back there. Only plus of this hostel is location, nothing else. The room had dirty walls and actually I am surprised that is still open. It was difficult to fall aslepp there because I could hear noise all the time.

The hostel is filthy, death trap from start to finish. We stayed in room 5, top floor. The stairs as always in Amsterdam are steep, that's ok but they are disgustingly filthy and rotten, not safe at all as there is not much to hold onto. The room is also filthy, dirty walls, ours even had old dried blood on... More

If you're used to 5star hotels then you should avoid this place like the plague. It is adequate for budget travellers and young couples. The rooms are basic and have a wash basin but the bathroom is shared. The doors and walls are pretty thin too so you can hear pretty much everything that goes on. The hotel is located... More

We spent 4 days 3 nights in Amsterdam. And this hostel is suitable for low-budget travelling. - Room and location: The room was quite old, but with the money you pay for such a good location, is acceptable. It is nearly in the centre of Amsterdam. The hostel is located next to a canal, so the view from the room... More

Good: Excellent location. In the center of Rembrandtplein. So, lots of bars around. The place is also between the center of the city (dam square & newmarkt) and museumplein & Vondelpark, so, you are 5 minutes from everywhere by bike. Good: You have a ventilator fan in the room. Crucial for sleeping in summer. Good: Decent breakfast. And you can... More

We knew what we were getting into with The Veteran, thanks to the online comments here, before we arrived. The Veteran barely qualifies as a hotel, it is certainly LOW LOW LOW LOW budget. The room was clean, although the walls were dirty with gum (in one instance) and dead mosquitos plastered on the walls. The room was squishy and... More

This is a really good hotel. It is just off Rembrandtplein, which is one of the biggest party places. It can get a little noisy on weekend nights, but given the convenience, we didn't mind. It is just 4 stops from Amsterdam Centraal, if you're getting into the city by train. The room was nice, clean and decently sized. The... More
