We looked, we searched, we hunted the internet hard to find this gem. Run by the sweetest family you could ask for, our apartment had space, loads of light, comfortable bed. The shower room was top notch and also had a superb steam shower. . . I can vouch for it as a hangover cure! There is simply no point... More

We stayed at TFP with our small son and we loved the place. Claudia, the host was very helpfull but also gave us our privacy. She provided us with a baby-cot and my husband with a laptop, so I could relax in the beautiful designed steamshower. My husband is a frequent flyer and stays normally in hotels and really found... What a nice surprise Used to visit amsterdam's hotels and B&B, I have finally found mine. The suites are really cosy and comfortable and the bathroom is amazing (steam shower + very nice design). The only problem with the Flying Pancake is that you don't want to go out anymore and visit amsterdam, when you are in your bed, watching... More

I spent three days at The Flying Pancake and had an perfect stay!. The neighboorhood is green, safe and cosy and is good located in the citycenter. Claudia the hostess is warm, interested and provides a 5 star service. There is a breakfast of your choice, a selection of spirits is offered free of charge and she brought home from... More

My husband and I stayed a week in The Flying Pancake. The "room" that we stayed in is an entire floor of a charming row house conveniently situated within walking distance to all of the major attractions in Amsterdam. The main living space has street views on one side and courtyard views on the other side. The seating/dining area has... More

The Flying Pancake is two Bed and Breakfast Suites in an authentic Amsterdam house just off a canal in a residential area five minutes by tram from the city centre and a two minute walk from the tram stop. The amenities are superb with every touch you'd want in your own home and unusual for just about anywhere: an up-to-the-minute... More

The flying pancake is located in my favourite part of town close to the plantage and the old Jewish district. The apartment is beautifully appointed, the coffee machine makes excellent espresso. The bed nestles cozily under the roof and the spacious living room has a log fire which will come in handy when we come back in the wintertime. Claudia... More

We just returned from a week stay at the Flying pancake. We stayed in the cook suite and found it charming and beautifully appointed. It was wonderful to have our own space to relax in. The steam shower and expresso maker quickly worked their way into our daily routine. We suddenly found ourselves refering to it as "our place." The neighborhood... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
