Claudia was very welcoming upon arrival, showing us around the room and explaining how things worked. She also advised us on the best places to eat in the neighborhood which was very helpful. The room itself (Captain's suite) was very spacious for two people, with excellent facilities including 2 coffee machines, a steam shower, a wide selection of tea, a... More

We occupied both suites. So much space and attention to detail. Every need was thought of from shower accessories to coffee machines and snacks, as well as a selection of wines to purchase at very reasonable prices. Rachel welcomed us and instantly we were made to feel at home. The location is good and within walking distance to many attractions... More

A big thank you to Claudia for her making us feel so welcome and for providing such wonderful accommodation and the helpful tips on where to eat and go for my morning runs! Was a little dubious about visiting Amsterdam due to the stereo types but we were pleasantly surprised. It's a wonderful City and 4 days did not seem... More

The owner was very welcoming and lovely. Beautiful home and room (cooks suite). Very spacious room and quite area. No noise and was able to come and go whenever pleased. About 15 min walk from the main part so really good location. Everything was perfect!

My daughter and me just got back from a 5 days holiday. For us - staying here was the best decision we made - it is with a walking distance from everything - we didn't use the public transport at all. The street is safe to walk at night and the neighberhood is quite. The "spar" supermarket is further along... More

Just spent 3 nights at The Flying Pancake, great location for walking to all the best places. We were well looked after by Marian, who brought us our breakfast each morning to our room. Would definitely recommend it.

Several years ago we were planning our first trip to Amsterdam and sought a place removed from the hurly-burly of the city center, one with space enough to keep us comfortable for a week's stay. We came across The Flying Pancake on the web, read the reviews, and decided to give it a try. The decision was a good one,... More

We enjoyed staying in The Flying Pancake a lot!!! Claudia was great!! Room is very well equipped, spacious and spotless clean, we felt like we were home away from home. Location couldn't be better, close to the center but on the quiet street. We didn't have to use public transport, all major attractions are within walking distance. Next time we... More

We had a wonderful 3 days at this fantastic B&B. The apartment was lovely warm and inviting. very easy to get to just a short tram ride from the central station. Claudia is exceptionally helpful and went out of her way to accommodate us. The breakfasts were great and the steam shower terrific! I would highly recommend the flying pancake!!

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
