We stayed in a standard price double room here - the building looks amazing from the outside, as does the entrance, bar and communal areas. But our room was stuck down in the basement, was like an old stone dormitory (not in a shabby chic way) and was actually a bit damp-feeling and uncomfortable. Different, yes, but luxurious and comfortable?... More

Just don't do it, the place is crap on so many levels. 1) Shower is in the middle of the room especially designed with no screens so the cold concrete painted red floor gets splashed and you nearly break your neck afterwards. 2) No mini bar or kettle 3)The place used to be a borstal, not a lot has changed,... after my stay here I had to laugh when I read the review below where somebody complained about the 'minimal room with a dixi bathroom'. Obvioulsy this hotel is not for everybody. The 'dixi bathroom' is a creation by the Dutch design group Atelier Van Lieshout. Some people find their design unuasal and unpractical, but I guess the Lloyd hotel... More

The hotel is a former prison that has not changed much. Leave it to the dutch to design a hostel (disguished as a hotel) that has five classes of room that only vary really in size and whether or not there is a "bathroom" in the room. Bathroom is in quotations as the ones in the room are pre-fab fiberglass... More

The Lloyd hotel is a nice place, in a decent location, and staffed with some nice people. The history of the building is interesting and my walk around the area (this being low season) was not incredible - but was pleasant. The best thing about the hotel is that it is clean and open - and somewhat secluded. The pricing... More

When I travel I want a clean quiet place and the possibility of a good meal close by. The Lloyd was that, spare yet efficient. A wonderfully helpful staff, free internet, a library and a dining room with simple yet yummy food. It feels very familiar because you have access to so much of the hotel. The layout is well... we booked a 5*-room but what we got was a big hostelroom with a dixi-bathroom next to the bed. it was very noisy (you heard the wind outside very loudly) and uncomfortable. the style was very rustic like on a farm, no luxury feeling at all how you would expect it in a 5*-room. it was so horrible that we... Another reviewer wrote that the Lloyd Hotel is a bit like staying in an Ikea. I agree, but in a good way. The rooms are inventive (showers in the middle of the room, moving walls, etc.). My sibling and I (we're in our mid-twenties) really enjoyed staying here. My parents (in their 50s), however, weren't as thrilled with the atmosphere.... More

Its such a cool hotel! We only stayed in their 1 star room. The room was really small, and we couldn't look out the window, but I must say that the beds were really clean and comfortable. The architecture of Lloyd Hotel is so uniquely designed. The place has many windows, which made it very bright. Internet is free, which... More

My wife and I came from Paris and decided to treat ourselves to 3 nights in one of the 5* Unforgettable rooms. We got the one with the gigantic down bed. Very large room esp. for Europe, bed was like sleeping in clouds, food was great , service was excellent, and tram stops right at the front door. Will definitely... More
