I took the cheapest room they had, on the 4th floor and with a shared bathroom. I read that is was a 'different' hotel, but I wasn't prepared for the psychiatric institution look of my room... This floor had long, echoing corridors, and everything was covered in old tiles: dirty, crooked and with lots of filled up holes. The bedroom... more

We had a great stay at the Lloyd. Friendly staff, inetersting interior, bright beautiful room (with a fold-open golden bathroom). It's a bit out of the centre, but that can be a good thing. Especially when it's sunny and you can ride a bike along the IJ. Or, it's well connected by tram: 26 to Centraal, or 10 to Leidseplein.... more

As we waited to check in my dutch colleague warned me that the hotel was a bit different. It certainly still has an 'institutional' feel in keeping with its prison heritage but now feels more like a hostel. The architecture was interesting enough and the staff pleasant but we all struggled a bit with our rooms. Now I love cool/quirky... more

Despite its helpful and cheery staff. Despite its artsy and comfortable public rooms. Despite its convenience to public transit (three quick stops on tram #26 from Centraal Station). The rather quirky Lloyd is probably NOT for everyone. For instance, our room had cold hardwood floors instead of comfy rugs or carpets and was otherwise unadorned in any way. Room lighting... more

Stopped here on the way back from West Africa before returning to the U.S. Had a 3 star room--highest ceiling I have ever had, quite comfortable bed and rest of room was nice too. Hotel was close to metro and was in a transitioning neighborhood--so it gave a view on how locals live--even met and talked with some locals in... more

We initially selected Amsterdam’s Lloydhotel as it was the only Amsterdam city hotel available at short notice two days before new year’s eve. Their website stated rooms available ranging from one to five star – not conventional for a hotel but we decided on the four star room expecting a certain level of amenities. How disappointed we were. There were... more

The layout of the rooms must have been done by a designer with absolutely no common senese. My room had a concrete floor. My friend's had a shower not 10 feet from the bed, with no wall in between. And the best? The third memer of our party had a toilet in the middle of his room. Seriously, no walls... more

I was a little hesitant to book the Lloyd hotel as it is not in the centre of town. However, the location didn't make a difference there are 2 tram lines right near the hotel and it's only a 5 minute ride in. It is nice to see a different part of Amsterdam too. The first room we stayed in... more

I have just returned from a three night stay a the Lloyd Hotel. it is my third visit here. Each year more and more people come with me, as they hear so much about this place. This year i booked 4 rooms. 2 adults and 6 teenagers in total. The reception staff worked hard to fit us all in on... more
