I had a brief 24 hour stop-over in Amsterdam, and arrived at the hotel jetlagged and tired. Although it was still morning, they placed me immediately in a room (much to my delight). Rachael and Pepijn arranged for an early breakfast the next day (because of my early flight), and even helped me purchase my train ticket back to Schiphol... More

A little gem with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and lovely breakfast. Great central location for leisurely strolls along the canals to explore Amsterdam, the museums and sights. Rachel, Pepijn and Gabriel looked after us brilliantly. They are a font of information and all too happy to help.

First time in Amsterdam and we are so glad we picked to stay here. We flew into Schiphol airport and purchased a public transportation travel ticket at the airport and took the train to Amsterdam Central Station. From there we took the tram (right outside the main entrance) to the first stop at Nieuwmarkt and it was 2-3 minute walk... More

This was the cutest B&B with some wonderful friendly owners. The room was clean, well decorated, and had great views of the canal. Also probably the best breakfast we had all trip! We would definitely visit again.

We stayed in this lovely hotel for only one night, but loved it. It typifies the style of house know in Amsterdam - tall and skinny. It had very narrow winding stairs, but don't worry about getting your suitcases up and down - they took care of that for us. The room was clean, perfectly furnished and quite spacious for... More

I had just a one night stay but wished for more. I had a garden view room (which was very peaceful) on the second floor. I had quite a heavy bag so was grateful for the assistance getting it up and down the stairs. The room was bright, eclectically decorated, and very well equipped. It was a lovely summer's evening... My partner and I arrived a bit jet lagged in Amsterdam at the warm and very friendly Misceatdrinksleep. Although it was way beyond breakfast and we were not even checked in yet, Rachel, one of the owners immediately made us delicious coffee and something to eat. And that warmth continued for the 4 nights that we stayed. Great location; we... More

Ideally situated, within walking distance of the main attractions. Very nice accommodation, although the tight stairs may be difficult for some. Rachel & Pepijn are top class hosts, very friendly and willing to help out and advise, including giving some really useful information,

Good place to stay if you want a home feel. Friendly, helpful service and toys in the dining area for kids which is helpful. Perfect position to be near the heart of Amsterdam - lovely restaurants, pubs, shops nearby. Everything walkable - and if you don't want to walk the hotel can call you a taxi or you can rent... Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
