Efrin is a great host and his property is located on a quiet tree lined street next to a very pretty canal. It is very clean and cozy for solo travelers, couples with or without kids. It has a full kitchen, laundry and is located within walking distance of the trams, museums, canal boats, and lots of good restaurants and... more

(I use the second person so that you, the reader, may easily take my experience as yours) The houseboat was a fantastic place to stay. If you are looking for peace and quiet amidst the sinful city of Amsterdam, Efren's Phildutch houseboat is a highly recommended place for you. First of, the area surrounding the house was a very tranquil... more

If you value privacy and peace and quiet this houseboat is great! All the family really appreciated the space adn facilities (we have a 9 and 16 year old so are a bit difficult to please!) It should be mentioned that this houseoat is someone's home - but this had the advantage of making it superbly well equipped with wifi... more

it looked lived-in, but not in the good way. laundry from the owner was in the machine the entire stay (three nights.) the kitchen was clean-ish but the bathroom could have been more tidy. it wasn't bad and it wasn't expensive but i won't be returning. more

Dear Guests, We always make it appoint that before you check in the whole houseboat is clean. It's up to my guests to maintain the cleanliness of my Houseboat during their stay . It's just like your 2nd home and you have to keep my houseboat organize. Actually I didn't complain at all because when we arrived in the houseboat...

We found Phildutch on a website and encouraged by the reviews we read (including those in Trip Advisor), we contacted them through the website. The owner, Efren sent a reply stating the boat was free on the dates we wanted and that he was extending a special "countryman" discount (since he is Filipino and we are too). He asked for... more

Indeed I always give a big discount not only because you're Filipino. I'm sorry about my E-mail asking you if your booked with us because I thought it's another person again looking for another place? If you received the confirmation letter meaning your officially booked with us and no need to ask again the availability. My apology for misunderstanding. With...

I booked by email and confirmed by phone for us (2 adults and 2 young children), but when we arrived in Amsterdam, lost at 8.30 PM (I've of course precised we would be a bit late), Ephren has just taught us that our boat was no longer available! He proposed to go into a B & B unaffordable, and situated... more

Management response from

I'm so sorry for the misunderstanding... but you're not officially booked with us because last minute you made a telephone call and I told you that you will be officially book only if you E-Mail me and you got my confirmation letter. I've been waiting for your e-mail so that I can send you the confirmation letter but I didn't...

Excellent stay at Efren's houseboat! A previous well written review by Lctricity on May 17, 2009 sums up anything I could add. We rented the entire houseboat. You will not be disappointed staying at the PHILDUTCH houseboat! My family loved our stay here, especially the ducks and swans and the location! Keep up the good work Efren! more

My sister and I stayed for two nights at the PhilDutch houseboat. The location is great as it provides easy access to the city centre and yet it is on a quiet street so it was very peaceful at night for sleeping. There is a boat dock within a few minutes walk where you can book the famous canal boat... more

Our stay on Efren's wonderful houseboat was far and away the best experience of our six trips to Amsterdam. If for no other reason than not having to deal with the dreaded "dutch stairs", also known as ladders. More on that later... To be honest we had reservations about booking a "Bed & Breakfast". We hold our privacy very dear... more

We recently returned from a glorious stay in Amsterdam where we stayed on the Phildutch houseboat. This was our sixth time in Amsterdam and our first staying on a houseboat. We had read the great reviews on TripAdvisor, but we still did not know what to expect. We arrived in Amsterdam about two hours early and Efren was not at... more
