I stayed here for one night before the Amsterdam Marathon. The staff were professional throughout the stay and very helpful. The room was at a high standard, and very clean. Shower great. This hotel may not suit all, it has a certain dark sophisticated noire look, and the subdued lighting in the room which was nice, would have been slightly... More

I stayed there for 1 night. The building was once monastery, the interior design is beautiful, service very good. The location was perfect, very close to the museum district (walking distance to Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum). The staff were very welcoming and friendly. One negative comment: the rooms and bathrooms need more light. I can highly recommend this hotel for the... More

Bless their hearts, they could really have something great, but they just don't seem to understand the importance of attention to detail and cleanliness. The student-run hotel is in an old boys school. The building is very interesting and the way they've modernized it is quite nice, but they are not doing a good job keeping it up. The carpet... More

This beautiful hotel is just beyond the museum district, and easily accessible to the sights and museums by tram. The staff were incredibly helpful, welcoming and friendly. The rooms are quiet and all seem to have their own unique character. There is a wonderful atmosphere morning, day and night at the hotel - with the restaurant and bar almost always... More

Me and my husband stayed here for three nights last week and had a great time. The building itself is interesting in design with archways and lovely brickwork; the staff were friendly, welcoming (offered a drink of 'Apple Pie' juice when we arrived, which tasted just as it should have!) and helpful - a special mention for Patricia, who was... Fascinating historical building now used as a training school for hotelier students in Amsterdam. Rooms and common areas with high ceilings and a feeling of space. Restaurant not really adequate for dinner; wine list extremely limited and service on the slow side. Stay here and eat out and you will not be disappointed.

I stayed on night on a business trip. The staff was outstanding, the room was large (especially by Amsterdam standards) and the food in the restaurant superb. The staff was VERY attentive to details and went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. I arrived with friends who live in Amsterdam and while I was checking... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
