Stayed there 3 nights lately.Reception run by two brothers who were very helpful.Rooms were a bit small but very clean and modern. We were in room 30 which was at the top.You can get a lift up to level two and have to carry the rest, about a dozen steps which are steep. No problem if you are young and fit. I,m sure... More

This was a clean, friendly, charming hotel in a great location. I would go back, and I would recommend it to friends. Tony and his staff were wonderful, extremely welcoming and helpful. I was sad I could only stay 2 nights. The rooms are simple, but the bathroom was modern and clean. The breakfast was great and the balcony was... More

Location was very central, nice staff, nice breakfast, not included though, but worth the money, My room was a bit small, but that wasnt a problem for me, i spent most of my time in the beautiful city center!!

Hotel was perfect, service was really nice, a small family owned hotel (two brothers at the reception), location was quiet yet very central and prices were very acceptable. Hotel advised us to book directly with them in the future for best prices.

Simple but very clean rooms and friendly staff at very affordable prices just a stone throw away from Leidseplein and the Centre of Amsterdam, a great find and a place to return to, time and time again, we will!

We got a good deal to stay at this 3 star hotel. The Alexander hotel is close to the Leidseplein & the main shopping streets. The hotel also offers free wi-fi, and plenty of restaurants are available in the neighborhood.

With a shoestring budget, this is a very good hotel if what is important to you are museums and being close to public transport. Hotel Alexander is a 10 minutes leisurely walk to the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. It's at worst 5 minute walk to the tram station, Leidseplein, right in front of a Pancake restaurant where they serve... More

I stayed at ths hotel as part of a Rick Steves tour in Jul 2012 and stayed three more nights after the tour ended. My room was decent-sized based on European standards. Nothing fancey but very clean. The single bed was actually bigger than I expected -- similar to full-sized beds in the US rather than twin-sized bed that I... More

When we first got to the room we both noticed an odd smell. And there was a noise in the wall like steam moving through pipes. Every once in a while we caught a second odd smell. Neither of us could identify it but quickly found out. While in the room catching up on emails, suddenly the hall light flickered... More

Dear guest, Thank you for your review. Our sincere apologies for the light issue in your room, we can completely understand that you were worried at that moment and we need to explain. Whenever a electricity issue occurs (even the slightest one), the electricity on the whole floor will automatically shut down. This is what happened to your room and... More

My wife and I spent six nights at the Hotel Alexander in the spring of 2012. Even the deluxe rooms are sparse and a bit small but it has large windows that open. That's good because there is no air conditioning. The shower was small with minimum amenities. We are retired and used to more convenience in our room. With... More
