We arrived on the night train from Munich and were very tired. They staff were very helpful and switched our booking to find us a room we could take early on. The location of this hotel is great. Close to leidseplein and the park, easy to get anywhere via public transit, very short taxi ride to the airport. The staff was very nice to us. I don't know what happened to some of the other people who didn't have a good experience with them, but they were perfectly nice to us.... more
We were really impressed with the location. The street is pleasant and very close to the city and all its wonderful attractions. Billed as a newly renovated spot I would have hated to see it before. The Hotel Alexander does have wonderful friendly service but the quality for price paid ($CDN 400) was poor. This cozy hotel is near shopping, transportation, and nightlife. Yet it's tucked away on a street where you rarely hear a sound other than nature. It was my first visit to Amsterdam, I've booked and found the hotel online. The hotel is located in a quite street but just a few minutes from the Leisdseplein, at the back you can find the museums van Gogh and rijks. The breakfast offered plenty of choice, the space was a little small for all guests in one time... more
