When we arrived at the amigo "budget" hostel in Amsterdam's"boring" quarter they insisted on charging us 10% for using credit card. My husband and I had planned a sight seeing trip of tulips Van Gogh and holocaust remembrance, however if you want to be reminded of historical atrocities of world war 2 -you can save your money and experience the atrocities... the staff are just so so rude ! I couldn't get over the way I was treated when all I wanted was to see what could be done for me , they were not helpful or lenient towards me as a customer who was paying quite a price for a bed ! When I arrived they had taken off more... More

Disgusting place- rude staff- tiny unclean rooms, dangerous lay out, rubbish location. Whole place stinks of smoke and weed. Miles away from any attraction by tram- nearest tram station over the road. The showers are a 20 foot walk down a communal corridor (even if you're in a private room) , which especially for ladies is difficult unless they are... More

There's no elevator in the place - so you haul baggage up a STEEP flight of stairs from the ground floor. Place is narrow - like a student commune. Smoking taking place outside at the entrance. Not for us

I travelled a lot in my life as a backpacker and I stayed in several different hostels but this was the worst of my life. I booked for 4 nights and they changemy room 3 times!!! This have meant change room every morning: I had to wake up with all the people that were leaving (now someone tell me what... More

Amsterdam is really easy for common transport. We choose this hostel because of the price even ifit was a little far or downtown, but at the end, it was absolutely perfect! Clean rooms, bathroons and showers! Everything was great and with the tram, we could go wherever we wanted with the allpass for 6€/day

While cheap, this hostel is worn out and tired, needing painting. It is also poorly run. I stayed 2 nights in 1 room, then came back in the evening after a day in town to find my keycard didn't work. Talking to the guy on reception, it turned out they had moved me to another room without telling me. Also,... More

The hostel was fine for 4 nights. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. There were lockers in the room so this was good. The staff were also really helpful and I couldn't fault them at all. Downsides: the common area was really small and there wasn't much of an atmosphere. It was quite far from town about... More

This hostel although not near the city centre, Is VERY conveniently located, walking distance from the train station that takes you directly to the airport and a tram stop just outside that takes you directly to the city centre in 20 mins. The guy at the reception was very friendly and helpful and there was also free wifi -although sometimes... More

This hostel was really good. Not a bad location it has a tram stop literally outside the door which goes direct into the city and takes around 5-10 mins. All you need is a tram day pass and can hop on hop off aslong as you want. The rooms were good and kept clean. The toilets were also quite modern... More
