The person at the front desk couldn't find our reservation when we arrived, despite us having a confirmation email. We were then squashed into 2 rooms (instead of the 3 we booked) and told to speak to the owner the next morning. Eventually, they did indeed find our reservation but had to keep us in 2 rooms because they were... More

We've just returned from a 3 night stay in the Ajax, and overall the hotel was fine. After reading some reviews on here we did expect the worst, but on arrival our room (214) was clean, tidy, and it was basically what we'd paid for. We never made it to the breakfast (not morning people) but we did speak to... More

Overall, I consider a positive experience, staying 4 days on this Hotel. The bathroom is extremely tiny, the cleanliness is OK and the breakfast also OK. I found somewhat strange having 2 sheets on the bed on the 1st day and only one on the rest of the days. The accoustic isolation is far from the best but you can... More

We are a group of 4 friends that booked 3 nights at Hotel Ajax in Amsterdam. When we arrived at this hotel to check in we noticed that the inicial amount ( according to the booking) was not respected. The recepcionist had information that we would stay for 6 nights when we booked through your website for 3 nights. The... More

1st time in amsterdam only for 3 nights. Only needed a place to crash. The place was small but clean. Bathroom a bit small but does the job. The positive side is thats the hotel is located in the heart of amsterdam literally. Its only 10mins from central station, 10 mins tobredlight district and major coffee shops and near to... More

I stayed 3 nights at Hotel Ajax in Amsterdam (November 2015). Cheap, but not cheerful. The only saving grace was that the staff were moderately pleasant. I have a list of reasons why I would NEVER stay there again. 1) The light above the shower was not secured into the ceiling - it was just dangling from a hole in... More

The smallest room with a ceiling beam in what you hit your head when you get out of the bed. Small bathroom with a smell of mold-can hardly take a shower in any position. Steep staircase. Bad soundproofing windows - actually the draft is entering your room constantly. The Fire alarm kept on activating and startle us. Lots of constructions... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
