It's been a long time since I've payed so much to stay in such a poor hotel. Put in a basement, not clean and with bugs. Floor not clean!! Sheets not clean. Not natural light... Bathroom shower broken and double bed is two seperate beds.. I can never recommend this hotel and these rates!

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. It is very conveniently located close to the train station. It is just a 5min walk to Amsterdam Centraal. Breakfast was served from 7:30 which was a bit late for me but it was very good. The hotel room was OK not extremely clean but also not overly dirty. One thing which... More

Hotel was clean, pleasant and quite. Breakfast was light but good as it's included in your stay. Location was great as was very accessible to Dam square. WIFI was hit and miss depending on where your room is located for a strong signal. We will definitely be returning to this hotel in the future.

I needed 3 nights in mid price hotel near to a conference venue for a business trip. The City Hotel is a tourist class hotel with basic services including a continental breakfast and free wifi. For a few days this was sufficient and I was satisfied. The hotel is near to many bars, restaurants and the central railway so is... More

Please note: some of the reviews for this hotel are for a different hotel, down in the southern area of the city, called the City Hotel. I stayed at the City Hotel Amsterdam, on Prins Hendrikkade 130, near the railway station. This is a budget hotel, very close to the central railway station, and is adequate for short stays. The... This hotel is the perfect location for visitors to Amsterdam. You are walking distance to the canels, museums, shopping and Vondelpark. I don't think there is a better hotel location than this one. The restaurant offers a fabulous brunch on the week-ends, and it seems like many locals comes for the brunch. In the evening the restaurant MOMO offers a... More

We visited Amsterdam for a family trip and booked 2 of the 4 bed rooms. They were quirky in that they had a small staircase in the room. The rooms were at the top of the 'house' which was an ordeal up the windy stairs (3 flights) and as the weather has been so hot, the rooms were hot at... More

The hotel was very nice and in a great location. Was a few minutes walk from the centre and the train station (google says different but it's wrong). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were immaculate, fresh towels daily. Room was small but for somewhere just to sleep and change it was perfect size. Breakfast had a good choice... More

The main advantage of the City Hotel is its location. You can walk from there to the train station and the inner city area of Amsterdam in a few minutes. The main disadvantage was our extremely small room in relation to its price. It was under the roof, so low ceiling, and almost completely filled with the bed, so you... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
