Stayed here for 2 nights whilst traveling with a friend and had a pleasant stay! Clean, nice basic bedrooms which were perfect for a quick stop, central, and staff were very friendly and helpful. I would however say it was more of a hostel than a hotel, but it was ideal for us because a basic room was all we... More

I'm just back today from a 3 night stay at the Marnix Hotel in Amsterdam and the experience was 100% better than I'd expected. We read the reviews AFTER booking and were dreading our stay after reading the bad reviews on trip advisor but these couldn't have been further from what we experienced. The hotel and rooms were basic but... More

All good. Only down side was the safety deposit boxes-half of them were broke and so the other half full up which was a bit annoying. Room and bathroom all good for price paid. 24hour reception handy and nice stairs to smoke on ;) Also vending machines for drinks and munchies!

The hostel is in a decent location right off the Leidseplein, which is fun at night and a good area to stay in. Staff weren't overly friendly. They also don't tell you that your room could be down the street, and the stairs are so steep that the banister is vertical. There were also bags of trash in the hallway... More

Very good location. Not cheap, but ok compared to the hostel offer in Amsterdam. The best thing, its location. Only 3 min from the bus to and from the airport. Kitchen wasn't great (coffee machine and other things with an OUT OF ORDER sign) and a little dirty. Still, a good option.

i would absolutely suggest this hotel to everyone, especially for the location. The room was not so big, but, i mean, just to sleep was OK! Amsterdam is to live outside ;) I would improve the service with towels, and bad equipments. People who work there are very kind and helpful. Satisfied!

We stayed for just one night. It looks more like a cheap hostel instead that a hotel. Common bathroom and shower were clean enough fortunately. Anyway the room was quite crumbling. It's a place to stay for just one or two nights.

I booked this hotel for me and my 2 friends in a bit of an urgency and hence it was expensive. The location is fine however the hotel is not. The room had non funtional windows with no ventilation in the room. By evening i had a look outside the windows and saw lots of mosquitoes just outside the room.... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
