Nice hotel for backpackers who do not care about noise and stained 70ies carpet floors and yellowish paint. Some parts of the hotel have been reniewed but this place definitely needs a total refurbishment. The electric system is more than 50 years old in some spaces. The central heating is a miracle in itself. The cleaning is just the minimum... More

Bedbugs in my room! Disturbed in the middle of the night by itching, I killed 3 bedbugs in the bed. I was given other room, but almost no compensation in costs: only 25 eur for a room of 105 euro. It took another hour to even get this money back.

A bit rough around the edges but a decent enough twin room with a shower... Shared toilet isn't ideal but for the cost/location and price it was good value...we were out most of the time so it's just a place to put your head down...a place for mates not a romantic getaway...you'll get dumped if you bring your girl here...

Marnix Hotel is situated in an ideal spot, a lot of tourist places are nearby, you can catch a tram or maybe even walk to the city centre. The Hotel was overall clean, and they had good staff at the reception who would help you out. I just hope the bathroom were slightly bigger. If you're a light sleeper you... More

we only stayed for 1 night and booked this hotel at the very last minut so we didn't check out any earlier reviews of this hotel. I wish we had. The room itself we had to share with 10 others. We knew that when we made the reservation. But when using one small with bathroom with teen others you'd expect... More

The room is too small for ten persons. No kitchen for cooking, only microwaves. Sheet is not really clean, there were some black spots on it. The employee never cleaned the refuge so there was no space and we needed to do it ourselves. The room and services didn't value 40 euros per night. Fortunately, the Internet and location is... Not cleanned, unconfortable, without services and expensive. The only positive thing was the proximity to the city center (around 15 minutes by walk). 405 EUR for 3 nights for a 3 persons room was excesive.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
