I want to start my review by saying that I don't have an opinion on Hotel Neutraal. I stayed for one night. I sat in my room with a facial expression like the backside of a gravestone: featureless, grey, signifying nothing. I don't think I smiled, yawned or sighed during my stay at Hotel Neutraal. The light switches in my... More

I spent the night here in June 2015 on my way back from Helsinki to Denver. This is definitely not a handicapped accessible property. If you are not good at stairs, you won't want to stay here. I had to haul my luggage up three flights of stairs. The first glitch was the hotel couldn't take a US Credit Card... More

Positives: good mattress & pillows; clean bedsheets, sink in the room; basic breakfast included; unbeatable location! Staff seemed nice. Negatives: McDonalds NOISY extractor fans inches from my window; all doors are heavy and close automatically, meaning bed will shake every other minute when someone on the floor entered/exited their rooms, all throughout the night. Stinky, filthy carpet. Also, charged few... More

Place is filthy and stinks of cats pee. Cats roaming the filthy hallways and the shower was clogged up with hair and god knows what else. It's cheap but that's no excuses for cleanliness. Bed was ok for my short stay. Location is the only plus point.

We chose to stay in Hotel Neutraal this time not the Flying Pig as always, however we realized this was a mistake the 1st night, noisy tennants who lived in the hotel, cats walking arouind the hotel, im allergic to cats so that didnt help and it did not say cats would be walking around on the website, the toilets... The pictures are not alike to the actual rooms provided. They don't give you a shower in your room it's on the 2nd floor, backs up water and is communal with everyone else in the hotel. It smells really bad, the staff are rude and there's a cat which is highly annoying if your allergic. I'm definitely not happy and... More

One first appearances, the room was very disappointing though it and the bedding was clean and beds were made daily and fresh towels left. Breakfast was provided which was a plus and the location was spot on, I couldn't fault that and the staff were very helpful. The only really negative aspect I would like to add is that the... More

Not very clean. No lift. Showers and toilets are shared. Very small rooms. The staff is hospitable and trying to help as much as they can but they can't do much as the facilities are poor. Very central and very close to the central train station

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
