We booked to stay 1 night before flying home after a week in Holland visiting friends. 4 bed room, 2 young daughters. The room was filthy, dirty, rubbish left in drawers. My daughter aged 3 found used needles in one drawer! But the smell of raw sewage was unbearable. We complained to be told that it was because of rain... More

The hotel was in a good location, close to central station and shopping, it was a fairly big walk over to the museums on the south side, but was a good way to explore the canals anyway. The service was good, not outstanding - one front desk staff member gave me the wrong information regarding the laundry service they do... More

Although when I stayed some work was in progress, my stay there was pleasant. What I found very good was the hotel's position. Close enough to the center and the nightlife to make getting around on foot easy, but not so close as to be noisy. The hotel faces the square where the train station is, everything was so close... Stayed at the hotel with friends while visiting Amsterdam. The rooms were clean and the top floor only had two rooms on it so it felt like we were in our own apartment! The stairs were steep so we often opted for the elevator, however the location in comparison to the train station was ideal, meaning we could explore Amsterdam... More

Have just returned from The Multatui. It was in a good location just across the road from the train station and 5 minutes walk away from the noisy centre. The hotel was clean but veryvery basic. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was not to my taste, bacon, sausage and scrambled egg were over cooked in a microwave.... More

Just returned to Scotland from a cracking stay in Amsterdam at Multatuli . Great location within walking distance opposite Central station . Food , bars & scenic canals are either right or left as you leave the front door . Very friendly and helpful front desk staff , breakfast was good , filling and always served with much politeness ,... More

Recently stayed at Hotel Multatuli with my partner for five nights. The hotel is clean, simple, quiet and very comfortable, beautifully warm and cosy. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the breakfast, which was included was delicious and plentiful to choose from. I would definitely recommend Hotel Multatuli and would definitely stay here again.

Nothing to say, it is central (in front of the central station), clean and with a nice staff, the rooms are maybe small but if you don't spend all the time in the room (I was there just to sleep for a work meeting) is OK (windows are not really thick so during night you can still listen some sounds... Just across the road to the Amsterdam Central Station and the tram stop, attractions are very easy to get to.This includes eateries which are just a walk further up or behind the hotel for quick bites. The room is clean and welcoming and the staff friendly enough.Breakfast buffet (inclusive in the room rate) is quite a spread which can fill... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
