My best man booked this trip and the hotel, what an amazing place. It is right in the centre of Amsterdam and the Red Light District. The hotel itself is exceptionally clean, welcoming and good value for money. The room we stated in was again very clean, wonderfully air conditioned, tastefully decorated, both my best man and myself agreed that... More

Excellent location. Just across the central station. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Though red Light area is near by but very safe place to live. Room very cozy but neat and clean. Tram station is also very near by. All other attraction are walkable distance. Many restaurant near the hotel

Had a great stay at Hotel Luxer - beds extreme comfortable, staff very friendly, great location for Amsterdam's Red Light District. We were in room 210 which didn't have much of a view, but as it was towards the back of the hotel it was very quiet - ideal for a great night's sleep! Quickest and easiest check-in and check-out... I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is in a central location and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size and the bed exceptionally comfortable. We had breakfast both days which was well priced at €8 and offered plenty of choice. Would definitely stay here again.

This was nice hotel in a great location. It's located very close the the red light district and the walking distance to the train station. Plenty of bars, restaurants and entertainment near by. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was just OK. Overall a it was a good stay.

Ive stayed here several times when working in the Netherlands but would equally stay here if with friends or family. A few minutes walk from Central station and right on doorstep of canal and bars etc Clean, modern and safe hotel. Bathrooms are tiny but that didnt bother me Great price hotel!

For the price it was good. Nothing special but we only wanted somewhere to sleep as we were out all day, would recommend to people that are looking for somewhere simple and for a good price. Would have been nice to have a smoking area or the option for smoking rooms.

The location of the hotel is very central at the top of one of the busiest streets we ventured. There was noise in an evening that could be expected but soon went quieter after 2300. The hotel was extremely clean and well presented giving excellent value for money. I had requested champagne on arrival for a surprise as it was... More

We stayed in the triple room for two nights - the room was spacious, and the bathroom was very large. Wifi is available throughout the entire hotel and service was very friendly on our arrival. The location is fantastic, very central in the city and certainly a safe hotel. They held our luggage for us after check-out which was a... More

This is a really good hotel! The whole hotel has been recently refurbished to a good standard. Rooms and shower rooms are on the small side, but clean and tidy! Great location near to train station and right in the heart of all the action! The only slight downside is the breakfast selection is rather small! Definitely would recommend this... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
