My partner booked this as a present for me so I was reluctant to complain, however when he told me what it cost I was annoyed!! €90 a night for what is basically a hostel. Walls, floors and ceilings are incredibly thin so you will hear everything! I can only assume the person in the room above was playing hop... More

We arrived and were given our rooms. To get to our rooms we had to climb near vertical stairs (which are normal in Amsterdam so not really this hotels fault). At the top of the stairs was a passageway full of beds, cupboards, drawers and god knows what else. This was the passageway which lead to our room. Not a... More

This hotel has a brilliant location within Amsterdam. I love the street it's on and spend a lot of time on that street when I visit. The good points about this place end right there. It's dark, dingy, smelly and creepy. I stayed here once as a last resort and will never, ever again. I consider it to be the... More

Well, having read all the reviews prior to going to this hotel I was somewhat prepared for the worst but only to find when my husband and I got to our room just exactly how disgusting and filthy this hotel is. We stayed just 1 night and that was 1 night too long, the bedroom what we were given was... More

Pretty apprehensive due to the negative reviews but it did what we needed it to do, it was cheap and convenient, yeah it was pretty noisy outside but you're in the middle of the red light district, if you want quiet, go somewhere else. Beds were pretty comfy, there was a cleaner in every day, it wasn't bad, would stay... More

Decent hotel, clean, good location, especially for the price, the hotel has its own bar which is also reasonably priced compared to some other bars. The only down fall was the stairs to the rooms, however I can imagine this is the same in most hotels in Amsterdam as they are tall buildings. We got our own bathroom in our... More

Stayed for 4 nights in a double room with shower and it was comfortable, no thrills and ideal for someone that was only going to sleep and shower in the room, reasonable cost for the area and found everything as described.

Don't get tricked by location, the first thing is a very impolite frontdesk, when you are done with your checkin all the installations are from a horror movie. The bed sheets and towels are dirty, the bathroom OMG its the most disgusting thing ever (see the pictures), beyond all this! they rob us, the last night we bought a bottle... More

This is something the ugliest I've ever seen, how dirty that you can not trust what you see with your eyes. The price was 160 euros for the night, only I could not believe it, and then charge me 150 eur for that I would not have to destroy in the room, and the whole room is not worth 50... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
