Very disappointed - the room was cramped and dirty. The walls were scuffed, the bed sheets were not clean (there was a pubic hair on my pillow) and I had to lift my heavy suitcase over the sink to get it inside. The walls were paper thin and I could hear word-for-word the conversations of the people staying in the... More

About a month ago I booked this hotel for me and two friends who were going to be visiting Amsterdam for four days. After reading all of the bad reviews I was left a little skeptical about the place as some of them were quite shocking. When we arrived around 7pm we were greeted by a nice girl at the... More

I went to Amsterdam with my boyfriend and my best friend it is a beautiful place to visit but this hotel was just awful... The plug sockets didn't work we had to give it a jiggle to get it going (lucky we didn't get shocked) the tv didn't work and the beds were way too soft... The good thing about... More

I had the displeasure of staying at his hotel in June of 2015. The room leaves little to the imagination, is small and dirty. Although the hotel is central located it is extremely noisy at night. The hotel itself is run down and the staff are extremely unhelpful. In my 10 years of travelling abroad I have never stayed at... More

The Old Quarter is very well located in Amsterdam. Less than 10 min from Central Station and on the corner of Red Light District. The district and nightlife here is amazing. Full of bar and pubs. If you want to interact to other people, here is where you need to come. The hotel is simple but fulfilled all our needs.... More

Stayed here for a stag do, and couldn't fault the place. We arrived and were given complimentary beers while we checked in. A tasty breakfast followed. The rooms were a good size and clean with a good view of the canal. We will be coming back to Amsterdam later in the year, and will be booking here again. Thanks

After much research of hotels in amsterdam, I decided to stay here and I was not disappointed at all. Its a quaint simple hotel, bar, restaurant on the Warmastratt in the middle of everything you could ever want to do and walking distance from everything else. the people were friendly. the food and drink excellent. They were very helpful as... More

what I would call a typical short break hotel. Small clean and tidy room complete with wifi in the room. Paths room, looks recently refurbished to a good standard with small but impeccably clean bathroom. Located about 5 mins from the central station and close to all the major local attractions. The hotel it quite noisy due to its location on... More

provides superb location, value product , simple functional with nice staff, convenient services , and care. Had a nice surprise with a Jazz Trio performance free for Hotel Guests. Location cannot be better access to coffee Shops and in the heart of the Red district

Upon arriving we were advised that we were going to up over the road in a seperate building. We opened the door to the building and the entrance was really scruffy. We managed to drag our bags up to the 3rd floor, we were on the 4th, and we left our bags to go look at our room after nearly... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
