We chose this hostel because we didn't want to be right in the middle of the bars and such. It had a great vibe and we met girls here that we still keep in touch with. It's clean, quiet and they have a mailbox so you can send postcards from the front desk! We rented bikes from the hostel as... More

Pros: very clean showers were hot, bathrooms didn't tend to be crowded lockers were of a good size (bring your own lock) fairly friendly reception quiet and peaceful - as a solo female traveller it felt pretty safe, especially with the unisex floors. no curfew, no mandatory being kicked out for cleaning free breakfast - basic but very good (the... a little alarmingly in the midst of lots of sex workers standing in windows, but a great stay when you get past the shock of that. we did meet two girls here that we enjoyed so much that we met up with them at several other points throughout our european adventure, which was nice, so points for facilitating community.

A lot of great and nice people! Very calm and relaxing, especially after a day of sightseeing. The neighbourhood is really nice and quiet :) It's a short walk to the center and the people are very kind and ready to help you out at any time. I rented a bike there too for a perfect Amsterdam experience :)

This hostel should be located in Roma, in the 1940's. All the rules about alcool, vouchers, unisex dormitories, etc. where way out of place for an Amsterdam experience. On the plus side, they had the first computers to ever use Windows 95, so I felt I was using historical treasures. Only 10 minutes to open a Internet Explorer page? Sign... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night at short notice. Men and women are on separate floors which works well if you're travelling alone (we knew this beforehand so no complaints just an FYI to others). The hostel offers £6 dinners - on the night we were there it was pretty chaotic and slow and there was much... More

My friend and I stayed in a 6 person female dorm for 2 nights. The room was clean and comfortable enough with pretty large lockers (bring your own lock). The bathrooms were also clean but very crowded! I estimated there to be around 50 girls on a floor sharing 3 toilets and 4 shower stalls. Towels were also not provided... More

Out of all the places i could have stayed in Amsterdam i am very thankful i stayed at the shelter. It was cheaper than the rest, in a great location and breakfast was included. The bathrooms were wide open, so taking a shower in the morning left really no privacy. The bed was fine and a locker was provided. Good... More

Terrible hostel. Worst I've ever stayed 1) reception opens the luggage room for anyone n everyone without checking tags 2) checking in/out is very slow. This lady called Esther even said to her fellow recep to just ignore the q n take her own time 3 room is like a jail - dark, windows that can't be open, no heater/... More
